It's quite interesting to see a big construction crane being erected or taken down. Quite an elaborate operation.

Yea, they're pretty cool. I had a class sophomore year that I spent most of the time looking at the cranes working on the other side of the campus out the window.

What kind of cranes are you interested in? The small truck-mounted ones, wheeled/tracked cranes, tower cranes? I'm into all kinds of construction equipment. Try these sites: http://www.highreachinc.com/

You wanna see cranes, come to Boston. It's become a joke around here that the crane (the construction kind) should become the new Massachusetts state bird. They're EVERYWHERE around the city, because of the Big Dig, the construction of the Lincoln St tower, and the Silver Line tunnels, among others.

I think they're really cool to watch, although when in New York recently, I saw what can happen when things go wrong. A crane dropped a load of its cargo (metal girders) onto Madison Avenue at 42nd St. The whole block was shut down. Luckily no one was injured.
