My CFI Is A Great Pilot And He Is A..(please Read)

I wrote this topic for,but i thought it would be good for this forum since its full of arguments and political discussions on topics of Muslims and the middle east. Maybe someone will learn something from it.

For you that read my First Flight! Thread you will know that my CFI took me up in moderate turbulence and winds gusting to 30 kts. Well some questioned my Instructors decision to go up. Well he had every confinendce in he self as a pilot to go up he was just concered about me.

The way he handled those winds and the short final into 28 at ROC were very impresseve and he reactions from gust of wind and turbulance were very quick and sharp. A very impressive pilot.

When I arived for my Intro i was introduce to my CFI, for some reason when my CFI walked in there was a strange feeling in the room(typical americans), but it didnt bother me. I was very impressed with he orginization and his knowlage, he has 4 more students and he just graduated from the UofR and his english is suburb. No my dad is a VERY patriotic man and there is nothing wrong with that and has taken 9/11 and the War very serious. When i told my father my CFI's name he was shocked and alittle hesitant but i told him he was very nice and a very impressinve pilot.

MY CFI's name is Akhtar Hussain Majoka and is a Muslim American, im not sure if he was born here or what counry he is from but his english is excelent and he had some American features in his apperance. Now he was only to be my temp. instructor but i think i might keep him. I feel proud to have him as my instructor to show that not all muslims are anti american or terriosts. I have a great amount of trust in him and i enjoy flying with him. IF i ever hear a feelow pilot talk about him which i have a feeling happens i will set them straight. It allso tought a good lesson to my father

Ok im done talking....happy flying!!

American or not, this is the type of guy I would "profile." Like it or not, it is just the times we live in. I know it is harsh but what does one expect? You profiled his ability as an instructor and you found that he meets your standards. Then you move forward. I profile everyone I fly with, in the cabin and occasionaly when I fly the left seat, when it is someone I do not know.

It is good that one establishes a rapport with ones instructor. You will find your learning to be that much more of ease. Good luck

But doesn't everybody profile everybody to some extent? You kinda want to know the guy who you're flying with, make sure he's not some psycopath, or some nutcase... Big grin
I know that almost all pilots (self included) mentally ''feel'' out the other guy, and try to figure out who he/she is and how they do things...

P.S. Muslim, Japanese, American, Irish... I don't give a rat's ass as long as they have true skills and knowledge, aswell as the ability to teach.

I read the thread where some were critical about his decision to fly that day. I think it was an okay choice considering you were okay with it. There is a big difference between wind and turbulance being unsafe, or just uncomfortable for a first timer.

Your CFI will have to work three times as hard to make it as a pilot because of who he is. If he was going to be a terrorist, he wouldn't be working nearly as hard at being as good of a CFI as he is....heck, he wouldn't even work hard enough to become a CFI in the first's a very difficult certificate to get. The terrorists had questionable flying skills and professionalism wasn't high on their list of priorities. The best thing he could do to make his life easier would be to change his name to Bob Jones, become a baptist, and say he's from Hawaii...

De727UPS- I don't really understand why my CFI's decision to go up was questioned. LOL That is a good suggestion. Oh yea I got all my medical stuff worked out and ill be able to fly.

I thought to my self why am I even putting this post up. Well I just want to get my message heard. Now I understand the fears that this country has and I think the some profiling is necessary of middle easterner but only if there not American citizens. Muslim Americans are just as American as we all are and remember that this is a nation of freedom no matter what colour or creed. Don't judge someone automatically, get to know them.

And to all over patriotic muslim hating Americans I got something to say to you and that is that is one of the most un patriotic things you can do as an American. Just remember how we got out freedom.

My CFI's name is Mohammad...calls himself "Mo" though, lol. He is persian, and I don't think he is a practicing muslim, if one at all. You can't really even tell. It's just his name. He does look really persian though!

I obviously have no problem with it. He's a good CFI/II. I've been training with him ever since my last instructor left for reasons I wasn't told.

Enjoy your flying Eric, and I'm glad that you keep an open mind.

What is a Muslim-American anyway? I am so white I glow in the dark and no one ever calls me a Baptist-American. Worry about your house burning down or your ferret dying before this.

I agree 100% with IMissPiedmont (i usually agree with everything he says anyways, lol). It's really not a big deal. He is just a regular american, like a lot of us.

Clipperhawaii: Seems you love profiling people. Eric's instructor obviously seems like a good person, whats the big deal? Profiling because of his race or religion is called racism. It happens all the time anyways, but there is a limit. He has the same opportunity to be a flight instructor as any other individual. If his behavior was questionable, then yes, look into it, but do the same for anyone who's behavior is questionable.
