I Got A New Car Today

Ahh my brand new Volvo S60. I really enjoy it! More than my punk ass SUV (Ford Expedition) that I just got rid of. Does anyone else own a Volvo?

I did in fact drive a Volvo friday afternoon. It was a 18-wheeler, but it was a Volvo. I had to do some commercial vehicle enforcement training with it... them things are hard to maneuver, I can tell you that much. I hope your car performs better than that beast did. But, I've never driven a Volvo car, lol. Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This is a nice looking car Big grin Looks similar to the most recent Mondeo although I don't think that's anything to do with Ford's ownership of Volvo.

The S60 is a great car. We sometimes get them as loan cars whilst the S70 is in for service. What engine do you have?

The only problem is that it's lacking in legroom in the back, otherwise it's a nice car.

Does it really look like a Mondeo? The Mondeo's more Audiesque, with hints of the latest Saab 9.3 in certain areas. The Volvo doesn't really have that Ford edge styling.

Cheers,

Justin

I'm impressed. I know Volvo's are good rigs, but usually when someone get's a new car on here, it is a $60,000 Beamer, or Benz ect. Then again, that usually only happens to those in the 16-20 year old range.  Yeah sure

Yeah, I'm getting a Z8 next week.

I figure it'll look good in the garage next to my 528i with interior by KIA.

*For the record...THere are allot more than ILS that claim to roll in rigs that you have to make a couple hundred gerrr a year to afford.

Flight Level. Congrats on the new car for real though. Nothing like getting a new car.

KROC...you wouldn't happen to be talking about the 16-20 and 21-25 year olds that drive 2001 and 2002 M3s and M5s would you?

Probably TurbineBeaver. I couldn't tell you a damn thing about an M3 and an M5. I won't be driving anythign like that anytime soon so.....my level of care drops off the scope.

Congrats, FlightLevel! My first car was a Volvo - an '82 244GL, which I bought used. My parents still drive Volvos, albeit of the boxy variety ('89 244DL and '91 744GL). They sure have come a long way in terms of style, I'll say! I sat in an S60 at both the dealership here in Milwaukee and at the auto show. What a great car! What were your deciding factors in getting it? I'd be interested to know.

It IS a great feeling, buying a new car and driving it off the lot for the first time. I bought my first-ever new car last October, a 2001 Toyota RAV4, dark metallic green with grey interior, four-wheel drive, five speed. I love it!

KROC...yeah, however, most experts on the M3s and M5s are A.net members who are extremely young, and get lucky when their older brother lets 'em borrow their bike.

It has Ontario plates because I got this picture off of a website. I don't have a digital camera so I can't upload pics of my actual car.

For 2001, the Volvo S60 is available in three trims. The S60 is available in the base, 2.4T, and the T5. The S60 engine for the base trim is a 2.4L with 168 horsepower. The 2.4T trim adds turbo, which boosts the horsepower to 197. The T5 trim comes with a high performance, turbo charged, 2.3L engine with 247 horsepower.

 Big thumbs up

Ford only bought Volvo cars. The trucks and buses are still the real Volvo.

Congrats to the new S60!
My father bought a Volvo S80 T6 2 years ago. Its a damn good car and fast too.
I am probably going to get a Volvo V40 D for my 18th birthday as thats the day when I pick up my drivers license.

Cheers

I have been driving Volvo for a really long time. I also had a Ford Expedition that I hated. So, I took my old Volvo (1994) and the Ford Expedition (2000), traded them both in and then bought this Volvo.

I test drove that s60 with my dad last decemeber. We liked it a lot, except it only came in manual and I really wanted stick. didn't end up getting a new car though when my college grades came through, instead electing to fix up our older saab.

enjoy!

The 2.4 20V is actually quite a good engine. Although the S60 is quite heavy (it will surprise you), the engine copes very well and delivers excellent fuel consumption for its weight/size.

The harmonic warble of the 5 cyl engine is great too  Smile A little more sophisticated and refined than the S70's engine, but still with the same character.

Cheers,

Justin
