Adult Beverages A-list

Sat Jun 15, 2002 6:06 pm

Having just got home from a wonderful night out, I feel I need to share my list of ClipperHawaii's drinks(s) of choice. So here it is.

Gray Goose Vodka - Smooth and a very refined taste. (French vodka, who would have thought?) Oh, and it has to be up and well chilled with 3 olives.

Sapporo Beer - Talk about a clean and refreshing beer. Allow it to warm up a little and not drink it very cold.

Turley Old Vine Red Zinfandel - If ever a wine could be described as chewy, this is it. Extremely hard to find due to it's allocation.

Gordon Biersch Export - Clean and somewhat hoppy. Nice.

Macon-Villages Louis Jadot - A great wine with everything. Very simple and plentiful.

Chateau Ste. Michelle - Muscat Canelli - If you like a sweet wine now and then this is it. A very strong taste of lychee. Wonderful!

Jagermeister - Bavarian herbs and 35% alcohol can't be that bad. I don't know what's in it but it is in me when ever I have the chance.

Many more...but these are off the top of my head. I can really get into wines too.

Cheers! Prost! Kampai! Bottoms up! And all that good stuff.

And you're not flying early in the morning, are you? (not serious).
I just had a horrible experience. My Scotch of choice is Chivas, but at the user-friendly end of the market, I enjoy J&B. I had just poured a relatively generous nip, with a dash of what I thought was dry ginger, only to discover that it was, in fact, creaming soda. Let me tell you, it's not a good taste, and it won't catch on.
But I've never been guilty of throwing away a drink in anger, so I drank it. Fairly quickly! What does that say about me?
But when things go as they should, apart from Chivas and J&B, I like most good Australian wines, love a G&T in summer, and am never ashamed to down a good beer - but there are too many nice ones to mention. In fact, almost anything without an umbrella, and that isn't colored blue is OK by me!

Cheers
Bill

I know that Hiram-Walker Creme de Menthe mixed with Sauza Tequilla tastes like gasoline, and gets you drunk in 3 gulps...  Innocent

Mis515 says:
Busch Light

If there is a list of great American chemicals used to promote diarrhea and other GI tract problems, Busch Light has to be at its top. I certainly mean to be pejorative here: Mis515, I have to say that one of the great things about leaving school and earning real money is the ability to upgrade to a decent beer. We've all had to make sacrifices, and we've all had to fight to be free - so I will assume for your sake that this is only a temporary opinion on your part.

I can drink and enjoy virtually all of the major alcohols, but I've always had a primary beverage based either on my income or taste.

Historically speaking, from most recently enjoyed and then going backwards:

1. Absolut Citron & Club Soda; 'Citron & Soda': late 1990s to today
2. Crown Royal & Coke; 'Crown & Coke': early to mid 1990s
3. Budweiser; 'Bud': late 1980s to early 1990s
4. (tie) beer: Olympia/ Canadian Black Label / Milwaukee's Best ['The Beast']
liquor: Everclear or Diesel & Grape Drink or Lemonade : mid to late 1980s

Other current favorites in modest amounts are Jagermeister, The Glenlivet, and Rumpleminze.

BTW, the AA meeting today is at 2; the cocktails start at 3 at the bar next door.

kind regards,

Ok now that it is morning and I have no sign of a hangover, a few more.
First of 'ol ClipperH NEVER flies unless he keeps 24 hours bottle to throttle. I increase the FAA regs a bit.
Now the good stuff...TEQUILA! Patron Gold with a 6 oz. orange juice chaser, first thing in the morning. Wow what a kick start. Thats only on days off however.
More wine...or more precisely Champagne. There is one that I adore, Vueve Cliquot. A tad bit better than Dom Perrignon and at a excellent price as well.

One thing, Everclear is great to remove sticky residue left from labels.
Ahhhhh libations!

Rouge Trader, I thought cocktails are at 3:30? There is this one drink, Absolute Citron and passion orange juice that the beach side bar at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua on Maui serves. It is amazing. Only thing...$8.00 a pop. After 4 drinks each my girlfriend and I looked at the bill. $73.00! We shared an appetizer. Was it worth it? Yeah it was, whales off shore breaching with a nice cool breeze blowing and the temp. at 80 degrees. Typical Maui day.

My top list is Victoria Bitter from Australia for beers. And some good old wild turkey for some hard fun! KROC, do you really tangle with the six four of O.E? I have always wanted to get my hands on one of those jugs just for the nostalgia.

For beer, I've got to say either Corona, or Spatten (from Munich). The two best beers I've ever had.

For the hard stuff, it's rum all the way. Not the crappy stuff either. I'm talking about good, old fashioned, dark, Jamaiican rum.

Another one of my favorites is Absolut Kurrant. Its currant flavored Absolut Vodka. Tastes great.

And last, no mixing will be involved. Only way to drink is to drink it all straight.

It doesnt taste good at all but just wondering if anyone else had heard of it?

But for other drinks, Bundaberg OP Rum is good.
