777236ER,

In my opinion 777 your being a trouble maker, trying to insight a blatantly flamebait thread. I feel that users who do this blatantly should be dealt with in the most sever manner, deletion as an option of course.

To make a post US vs. Euro seems very childish in the least and only seeks to drive away users in the end. You are part of the problem and you are no solution to it. I request the moderators delete this user such as what happened to Flight Level, because in the end it is no different.

His lying drives away users because the credibility of this forum is attacked, the same holds true to this post, it seeks to destroy the credibility of this forum with childish, ignorant flame bait posts.

Making the statement "countdown to this being locked has begun", seems to indicate your intentions and while the jury sequesters itself for your verdict, I will hit the suggest deletion key.

Thank you,

TechRep

TechRep, *I* didn't start the Euro-Yanks thread genius. It was a funny thread and MOST people who participated in the thread noticed that. It was a joke. Yet for some reason, it's been deleted! Yes, it might have erupted into a flamewar but there were few signs of that last night.

A trouble maker? I didn't start the Euro-Yanks thread. I started this thread to ask what happened to the FUNNY Euro-Yanks thread. The fact is, it WILL be locked! That still doesn't mean I can't ask a question about a thread I enjoyed and laughed at, that has now disappeared.

How am I similar to ILS/Flight Level?

Where was I lying? The credibility of this forum is attacked when good posts (like the Euro-Yank one) are deleted, NOT by users like me. How is this post childish and ignorant?

The same could be said about YOU TechRep when you were whining and complaining that links to your site had been removed.

You are obviously trying to incite a flame war here, restarting a thread that was locked/deleted from a previous post.

I fully compare you to Flight Level, for the simple fact you decrease the credibility of this site with stupid posts/actions like this.

True, I did have an honest complaint about this site but in the end I complied with the decision of Johan even though I disapprove of his action.

You are everything wrong with this site when you try to insight a blatant flame war, justifiably so; I suggest you be deleted for it. Many people/users are tired of users like you who constantly start threads for the explicate reason to insight a flame war, this thread counts among them.

Countdown to this thread being locked signifies you know full well what it will develop into. Therefore it would come as to no shock to you or me, if you are deleted for it.

Suggest Deletion,

I want to know what happened to the thread. I admit that. In my opinion, there was NOTHING wrong with it and I am very interested to know what a mod has to say about it.

I fully compare you to Flight Level, for the simple fact you decrease the credibility of this site with stupid posts/actions like this.

In your opinion. In MY opinion, the quality of the site is decresed by deleting perfectly good (and funny) posts.

True, I did have an honest complaint about this site but in the end I complied with the decision of Johan even though I disapprove of his action.

Really? In recent posts I've noticed that you've been putting links to your site after your name, despite the fact that Johan said he didn't like the practise.

You are everything wrong with this site when you try to insight a blatant flame war, justifiably so; I suggest you be deleted for it. Many people/users are tired of users like you who constantly start threads for the explicate reason to insight a flame war, this thread counts among them.

Many people/users are interested to know what happened to a thread that was one of the funniest things on this forum in recent times! I don't start threads often, and I don't set out to start a flamewar. Once again, I wanted to know what happened to the thread, there was no need to get into an argument with you. I was merely looking for information.

I am NOT everything wrong with this site dude. There are users worse than me and I do think that some users actually appreciate humour occasionally. Get off your high horse.

Countdown to this thread being locked signifies you know full well what it will develop into. Therefore it would come as to no shock to you or me, if you are deleted for it.

These threads are always locked. That's the way of the world. However, information is usually gleemed out of them before they are locked. Again, there are worse users than me, TechRep.

Suggest Deletion,

How is that ANY different from me saying "*countdown to this thread being locked has begun*"?!

Sooooo let's move onto YOU. http://www.airliners.net/discussions/site_related/read.main/880/ Some people would say this is blatent flamebait and your attitude was far from civil, wasn't it?

Once again, stop being hypocritical.

Jeez we're getting a little tense aren't we? Paranoid maybe? There was absolutely nothing wrong with that thread! Nothing!

TechRep,

What the hell are you babbling about????? Judging by your responses here I suspect you have not read the said topic, otherwise you would not be making such outrageous statements about 777236ER. The topic was a fun, in no way insulting, lighthearted thread! I am sure that 95 % of users on this forum will agree to that, INCLUDING the Americans.

So if you have a problem with the site goto site related, however you posted the message here to get the max amount of attention, another mistake.

Your intent was obvious my intent was a valid question posted in the correct forum. You will notice my thread was in site related and in the end I complied with Johans request.

He said he didn't like the practice BUT if it became a problem he would make a rule. You have no idea about any e-mails I may have sent behind the scenes to Johan so your comments are mute.

Suggest deletion,

I never would delete anything because I think a forum is to say its opinion. You shouldn't come to a discussion forum if you have a problem with discussing and when you can't accept other opinions...

I was very surprised that it was deleted for being 'flamebait' - actually, I thought that everyone (with the possible exception of Alpha1, but that's no surprise  Insane) was being very well mannered on it and taking it in the spirit in which it was intended.

It's very obvious that someone with sense of humour deficiency syndrome clicked on the 'suggest deletion' post multiple times ... quite possibly someone that was losing an argument on the thread big time!  Big grin

Easy SAS23. It was clear that your thread was started as nothing more than a joke. I was the first one to come out and say it was funny, and me and Alpha 1 are of the same mold. To bust out with "TechRep - grow up or go away." only incites riotous actions. With all due respect to TechRep's opinion, one that I don't agree with, he may have not seen the humor in your thread, and he may see this current thread as an attempt at tossing gasoline on a burning fire. I believe his posts are benevolent in nature, but are maybe going a little over board in calling for the deletion of 777236ER.

My take (not that it matters). SAS23 actually tried to post something funny. It is very clear that humor is not a given on these forums. If you are funny, you will get chastised and attacked at some point. People take these forums extremely too seriously, and fail to realize that hey, let's have a laugh once in awhile, no matter what the expense. I bust on myself allot, just to make others laugh. It's not a big deal, and I am not going to cry when others make a joke. SAS23, while me and him have battled over the Israel/Palestinian issues on several occasions, I could clearly see his thread was meant as a joke. I am not sure what went down after a handful of others posted in there, because I fully expected all the "I can't laugh, humor is evil, suggest deletion of anything remotely funny" people to start taking over, OR American's that would not take the thread as a joke.

777236ER. I have emailed a few times with him, and I have enjoyed his posts. We have a similar style, and any Brit that cracks jokes on the Queen robot ERRRRRRRRRR Mum can definitely have a good laugh. I understand why he started this thread, because with all the moderators, and all the differences they all have, and not one set way of deleting posts and threads he wanted to know why. I have been there many times myself. He ws looking for a reason why a good natured humor thread was gone. His thread I feel doesn't belong in the "Site Issues" forum, because the question deals with something from this forum directly. It's not that big an issue.

Come on guys, I know as well as anyone, that people will battle on here. Thats what happens when you discuss and debate, but some things are not worth it. This is one of them. Suggesting deletion for a valid question and calling for the removal of someone and comparing them to a chronic lier is a bit much. Before accusations fly, I think we should do our best to find out the true intentions of the posters and posts we want to attack first.

It is my opinion that overly blatant flame posts should get member deleted for a short time. Not forever! Growing up has nothing to do with it that's my opinion, we agree to disagree.

I believe that many do not have the maturity here to remain civil in such a post about US vs. Yanks or Us vs. Them. I try to stay out of them but I have responded a time or two. I believe there are many here on this forum with nothing better to do than to post garbage to incite others, well you have incited me so it worked.

It's not my job to go around to each post and express my disapproval, that's the moderators job, however I will use this one as a prime example of blatant flame bait. The moderators can see there are members here that do not approve of such blatant flame posting, so I am standing up. You can call me every name in the book I could careless, it only goes against you further.

BTW, "the everyone else is doing it so I can too argument", just doesn't play, my displeasure is aimed at bringing attention to these flame bait posts. My job is done here! If you can't handle all points of view then in fact it is YOU that should go elsewhere.

Thank you,

TechRep, what you are in essence saying is that if YOU don't like something, then action must be taken ... and sod the rest of the users.

Sorry, but that simply does not wash. If you have a sense of humour failure problem, then that's between you and your psychiatrist - it's not of any interest to those of us on here who are capable of understanding the difference between light hearted humour and making attacks.

As it happens, the original post did not even mention the United States (except in the header) as it was a comparison of various European countries. Where, exactly, was the 'flame bait' that you claim ... and why should the whole thread be deleted and not just a specific post?

As you say, if you can't handle all points of view then you shouldn't be here.

Well, I have to agree the topic title was flamebait, as you obviously intended. The text itself was funny, though.

Who is to say the topic was flamebait? When I read it, I didn't get mad or fired up, I took it with a grain of salt until I read the thread itself. Again, people need to seriously lighten up.

As far as i'm concerned the title of the thread added to its humorous nature, HOWEVER, I don't see how the actual content was connected to the USA so maybe a different title was more appropriate...

Regards

Dan  Smile (btw. since when has 777236ER been a troublemaker? and how does this incite a flamebait? Its just a simple question that is easiest answered in this topic otherwise, the admins would get flooded with individual emails and some peopel would be kept in the dark...)
