David O'Leary Leaves Leeds Utd

Thu Jun 27, 2002 9:08 pm

News just broken. Left by "mutual consent" - one conclusion that I've come up with is that Rio Ferdinand is about to become a Man Utd player as O'Leary wouldn't have wanted that to happen whilst he was still in charge!

I had similar thoughts - seems like the only reason he would leave Leeds - perhaps it may give him a head start on the Man Utd job when Fergie finally goes. Given Man U sucess last season perhaps he may reconsider his decision to stay.

Leeds have now come out and said they sacked him. So, he does get a substantial pay-day, as I believe "mutual consent" means "sorry pal, you've forfeited any claims you have for compensation!"
