World Cup Ratings

I found this on a newsgroup, seems like a nice statistic to me:

64 points for a world cup, 32 for final, 16 for semis (20 for 3rd place), 8 for quaters etc.

We're in the top 10 ahead of spain, holland, so that's nice.Although we can improve but the top 5 are not suprising.

One has to wonder how "Germany" is listed and then "East Germany" did i miss something?

I guess in this particular list they are listed separately since the unified german team represents the DFB which was the former western german football organization. They didn´t seem to "inherit" their eastern counterpart´s points...  Wink/being sarcastic

It will never happen. The people of East Germany (the GDR) have joined the Federal Republic of Germany, there was no merger between the 2 countries.
So the football association of the GDR (don't know what it was called) stopped to exist on the 3rd October 1990.
