What Movie Scares You?

Mon Jul 08, 2002 1:15 pm

What movies scare you? Mine would be Candyman. Good GOD! I saw it when I was six and was scared out of my mind when I saw it. I slept in my parents' room for like 3 years! I recently saw it again, and it once again freaked me out. So I wanted to know if any movies scare you, and why.

Probably the scariest move I've seen is The Silence of the Lambs. What Lies Beneath was also pretty hair-raising.

I saw Psycho for the first time a few days ago, but it didn't freak me out that much. However, it's still amazingly well scripted.

I saw The Exorcist once several years ago, and I recall it as being more stomach-turning than frightening.

The Excorcist has to be the only movie that has scared me. After watching that movie, I could not sleep at night for months. That is one scary movie.

Fire in the sky is the one that scares me, so much that I've never seen it and I do not want to see it anytime soon !

Yeah, I'm pretty unflappable, but Silence of the Lambs shook me up.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

I don't really think Silence of the Lambs is that bad.. it's a great movie. Hopkins is fabulous.

I saw The Sum of All Fears, and while it was a great movie, it was DISTURBING.. VERY Disturbing.. That's the closest a movie has come to scaring me..

The dino Barney really knows how to scare people. I haven't been able to sleep for months now after I saw his show. How can grown ups expose their children to this horror?  Laugh out loud

Sum of All Fears weren't the most disturbing, i thought Bad Company was more. I don't know of any movie that really scared me, maybe the one with the doll moving and talking and somtimes killing.

The Exorcist was quite funny IMHO. I just couldn't see what was so scary about it. I remember watching it with a friend in a cinema pissing myself with laughter and everyone else was in terror. Especially that 'your mum sucks c*cks in hell' line! Absolutely hilarious!!! Big grin

I remember as a kid being scared of 'Aliens', but having watched it again recently I was left rather cold.

I suppose the Blair Witch Project was pretty creepy because of its unique perspective (although I was quietly hoping that annoying chick was going to get her comeuppance!!!)  Big thumbs up
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Boeing in pdx,

I agree 100%, I was freaked out for weeks after I saw that film.

The most memorable scary movie from my childhood was Pink Floyd's "The Wall" I don't know if it was meant to be scary but for a 7 year old it scared the s*** out of me!

Now the scariest movie I can think of is "Meet the Parents" in-laws ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Summer of 1979, I was 19. Me and a buddy do a bunch of bong hits and head out, high as a kites, and go the see the new flick "Alien." I was so scared, I nearly wet my pants. Even after all these years, the original in that series of films is a masterpiece of both gore and suspense.

I agree, The Shining was scary AND good!!! Same goes for Cape Fear. Excellent acting in both movies.

I can't even hear the names of some of these without feeling ill:

"Snow Falling on Cedars"
"Fried Green Tomatoes"
"Sleepless in Seattle" (all of those Meg Ryan horror films scare the bejesus outta me)
"The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood"
"Steel Magnolias"
"Ghost"
"Circle of Friends"
"Titanic"
"The Bridges of Madison County"
Ghosts appear and fade away.....................

Definitely "FIRE IN THE SKY"!!! That was a scary movie for me. Uh!!! Just the idea of being taken against your will and somewhere unknown to you, or anyone else for that matter (of this earth) is just freaky! .....Moreover, I couldn't eat pancake syrup for a while after viewing that movie. If you've seen "FIRE IN THE SKY" you would know what I'm referring too.

Im not too easily freaked out, but I am terrified of Death... I saw the movie Final Destination right before ( like the night before) I went to California... It wasn't so much the plane exploding, it was the whole having a premonition, and having to escape death

"Lord of Illusions" did it for me...that movie scared the piss out of me. Of course we were all "out of sorts..." but it was pretty freaky.

Others...
Event Horizon [what a mind f*ck!]
Hellraiser

I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember them...

Tom
