He was quite an independent individual. I personally believe that the nation needs at least one of him in Congress, and we would be better to have something like five (ahh...but not much more.
While I think that the nation needs him, and is better with him, I also think he was not very good for the district--one which is ailing and could possibly use someone who is better at the politicking. Sure he brought up huge issues that no one else was willing to talk about, but on the other hand, he had cheesed off so many of his fellow Congressmen that he didn't have a voice in committees and such--where decisions were actually being made.
Nevertheless the good people of his district hold their middle fingers high and reelect him--because that will further cheese off people, and it would be kinda neat.
