Help.........with Menu

Sun Aug 11, 2002 1:27 am

Hey guys...any gormets out there...need some help here.

My moms birthday is Sunday. I have to work that night but have the next two days off, so I figure that maybe I will head the 200 miles south and cook her dinner.

But I am not sure what to make.....Anybody got any suggestions?

As far as my cooking skills go....I know how to use a microwave, and that the four food groups are bagged, bottled, canned and frozen. Big grin

Actually it isn't as bad as all that but if anybody has any ideas for what to make, I am open for suggestions.

Pasta is extremely easy to make. Make some good ole' spaghetti!

It's pretty easy to cook. Put $.75 worth of spaghetti noodles (I recommend Barilla, since they have a plant here in Iowa) into a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. Then while you're doing that warm up your sauce in a sauce pan. Bring that to a boil real quick then turn it down to warm. When your noodles are done (just read the box to see how long) strain the water out of them. Lately I've been lazy and skipping the following step, but it might be nice to put the noodles back into the pot and stir a little olive oil into them so they aren't so sticky. Otherwise just serve with your sauce.

That's probably the tastiest and cheapest thing I know how to make and it doesn't really take that long.
