Opinions On Dayton, Ohio?

Sat Aug 17, 2002 12:57 am

Greetings folks....
I'm taking a road trip to Dayton Ohio in ten days, to see the USAF museum. Since it's my first time visiting the city, I'm wondering what to expect. Any insights from anyone? Can anyone recommend other sites to see, cheap motels, dining, etc,etc...All replys appreciated.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

I used to live a couple of hours from there, so I really don't have any ideas where to say. I remember seeing several "budget" motels in the area, so you shouldn't have too much problem finding some place to stay. Plan on taking at least one full day at the museum, longer if you're like I am and have to see it all and read all of the information at each display. I think that it would easily be possible to spend two and perhaps three days there if you really wanted to take your time and see everything that is there. Wear comfortable shoes because you're going to be on your feet most of the time. They have a decent cafe and an IMAX theater. I've probably been there 4 or 5 times during the last 10 years and I always spend the entire day there and still feel rushed. Enjoy it. Personally, I much prefer the Air Force museum to the Air & Space museum in Washington, D.C. My second choice would probably be the Pima Air museum in Tucson.

i go to school up at the univ of dayton. half of dayton is a dump, half is very nice. i heard wright patterson AFB and the museum are amazing. the city itself is very dull except for the oregon district, which is where all the clubs are. ill be up there next friday, let me know, you can come and party with us, they do have nice bars as well.

The Air Force museum is one of the best I've ever seen. Ever wanted to stick your head inthe back of an SR-71 engine? I think there's even a massive B-36, there's a really great collection of aircraft there. Have fun.
