Largest Employer By Industry

Which industry as a whole employs the most people? Is it trucking?

Trying to find something online, no dice.

Restaurants and retail would have to be among the largest, if not the largest.

McDonald's has been known to boast that it alone has 1.5 million employees worldwide.

Well, there are about 4 millions truckers alone in the United States, not including dispatchers, maintenance, truck stop employees, etc.

If the proposed merger between Chad Thomas Industries and The Lee Miller Corporation goes through, they will have at least a few million employees.

You may want to start here ... Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Industries at a Glance...

Good luck!

I would think that the industry with the most number of workers is government.
