What's There To Do In PHL For A Day?

Tue Aug 27, 2002 6:25 am

Hey everyone,

I have a day layover in PHL, and I was wondering what there is to do for the day. I fly LAX-PHL on the red eye-we get there at 6:17 am and our flight to LGW doesn't leave until 8:55 pm. What is there to see/do in PHL that is a must? Thanks for any info.

Hop on a train into Center City. Munch on a soft pretzel for a morning bite. Take a look at the line for the Liberty Bell and keep walking (unless you've got a whole bunch of time  Big grin ) Head to South Street, do some serious shopping. Go to Pat's, buy a cheesesteak for lunch.

And then? Somebody else can fill in this point, because by this time I can be found at the Plow and Stars in Olde City, downing a Guinness  Big grin

Oh, be sure to file a trip report for your PHL-LGW flight; I'm flying US Airways transatlantic on an A330 for the first time on Sep 17th and have no idea what to expect Big grin

NJTurnpike:

Hey thanks for the reply. How much does the train cost RT? Anyway, We're flying on the 13th on the A330 to London. We have Coach + 1 upgrade standby tickets, so hopefully we'll be flying Envoy class to London. We're going to list on the A330, but we might try to get on the 767 at 5:55 pm. We'll see what happens. I probably won't write a trip report until we're back, but maybe I'll see you in London... It's a small world!  Smile

It's about $5 or $6 for a round trip to 30th St. Station from the airport, should take you about 20 minutes. Not too bad.

Good luck with getting something in Envoy class - if you do, I expect pictures  Big grin Enjoy your trip!

Pats is overrated, Geno's (across the street) is better. Head to center city. South street is cool, Independence hall, Art Museum, Kelly drive, Dave and Busters, Penns landing.
