What Will You Do On 9/11

Sun Sep 01, 2002 1:29 pm

Sorry i'm sick of hearing about it as much as everyone else but i was curious.

I'm not watching TV
i'll probably look at the pictures of the 4 planes but nothing of burning buildings.

Mostly go about it as a normal day. But I will spend time mourning and praying for those who lost their lives and loved ones on that horrible day.  Sad

We're Nuts will probably get his ass kicked by someone when he tells everyone to quit mourning on 9/11.......... Insane

Just a prediction.......

I'll be on a beach in CANCUN thinking about my home (NY City) and those that died... having just come of an AA 757 a few days before I will certainly be sad...

I will be at school. It will be interesting to see whether anything is planned or not. Me thinks there might be a short thing planned, but that's probably it.

I still find the televised images deeply disturbing, so I think it is eminently sensible to steer clear of the news on that day. I'll just go about things as normal otherwise.

I am going to watch the 9-11 special and the memorial live on TV that day.
30% of me says that I will skip school to watch these 9-11 documentaries and reports. I wonder how the guys at the ARTCC's will do with the thousands of planes flying on that day?

I too will pray on behalf of the victims.

It is going to be a rather interesting day when it arrives in 11 days.

Same thing I did last year. Go to work, check newssites a few times over the day. Go home, maybe do some shopping. Make dinner, browse the net a bit. Go to bed and wake up the next morning.

It's not as if it's some mythical date guys. Nothing sacred about a date, even if a lot of people died in a terrorist attack on that date some time ago.
If you just sit there staring and grieving on any date anyone ever died due to unnatural causes, you'll do that every single day for the rest of your lives.

More people died on a single day in WW1 or WW2 than died on 11 Sept. 2001 in those terrorist attacks...
I wish I were flying

Remember those who lost their lives to the most henous act ever perpetrated on the free world in the name of religious idealology.

To be truthful I am more disturbed by the death of AN - September 14 2001 - as it's a bit closer to home.

Both events affect me in a different way.

I am absolutely trying to get out of the country at least for 2 or 3 days. I can't stand the build up tv is already giving us - its like we're getting ready for the SuperBowl or something, its sickens me. I've heard there will be non-stop no commercial TV 'coverage' of whatever ceremonies will take place and no doubt a lot of politicians running their mouths. I understand those personally affected need this but turning it into the media event of the year is disturbing. I prefer to keep my thoughts to myself, remember the event and honor it in my own way. I've been looking into Saint Lucia myself - it looks really nice and I haven't been there.

kind regards,

Go to work as usual. Probably have a few quiet moments of reflection, but I've done that quite a few times over the last year. It's just a date one year on, it won't change anything. I will watch some of the coverage on TV. Apart from that, just normal everyday.. I'll be flying on the 14 Sept.

Wake up, eat someting, go to school... watch some news, do some homework, cook, eat, surfing a.net, and go to sleep.

Just a normal day... I guess... I dont think it's special just because its exactly one year ago... It's a accurance that I will never forget, but life goes on.

Good luck,

Yup, I won't be doing much.. Sure, the media will remind me of what had happened a year ago that day, but I won't go out of my way to do anything special. I'll think about what happened, and what I felt, and what everybody else felt (I had this urge to go to war, something this shouldn't go un-punished, its funny what anger does to your mind...). But I won't be going too deep..

I shall be flying from Stansted to Glasgow-partly to get away from the inevitable semantics overkill and partly as a means of defiance. It's somewhat fortuitous that 9/11 is a day off for me.

I have every intention of honouring the memory of those that died by joining a minutes silence at the appropriate time, but I don't need the media shoving it in my face all day long.

Some of you will think I'm nuts for this, but, I will go to a site on the internet that has the archives from TV's stations covering the tragedy form that day. Why? I don't ever want to forget what happened that day. Yes, I know what happened, but I want to feel those emotions. I don't ever want to forget what those bastards tried to take from us. I know that they haven't. But there are 3,000+ people who are no longer with us. Fathers, mothers, wives, husbands, firends, brothers & sisters. To put off the events of that day as of less importance just because it is one year later is a travesty. I for one want to remember that. Along with the brief time that the world came together.

Osama, if your out there still,... look, you haven't changed us a bit. Yea, you took 3,000+ loved ones away. You knocked down three landmarks. But you didn't do what you set out to do. I'd tell you to go to hell, but I somehow believe you already got a personal invitation from satan himself.

I am going to fly to New York from PHX the evening of the 10th. Arrive JFK early morning around 6AM. And make sure I am at the WTC by 8:45AM. I plan on flying home that day around 4PM out of EWR on the 777 as well! Should be a very difficult day for those of us who lost friends and family. I am not looking forward to it. But I feel I need to be there.

I don't think anyone should see anything on 9/11, some jackass** will end up killing some 'arab-look-alike' just because the media or the White House decided to "re-kindle the pain of lost loved ones" for the sake of the 'war on Islamic terrorism'.

I'm right in the middle of NYC, so it'll be interesting to see how everyone and everything reacts. People for the most part have returned to normal, so it should be interesting to see if the day is more somber, or if people go about their business as usual...

Nothing unusual, September 11 is just a normal day to me and I think people need to move on from it, I'm so tired of constantly hearing the same-old things over and over again, yeah it was horrible, but it's in the past and people need to let it go.

I will get up and probably work on some of the photojournals of all of the trips taken since that day, seeing that I was not afraid to fly and see some of this country and the world. In the afternoon, it will be time to go to work. Just like all my peers, the job will get done that day. I will be thankful to still be working. There will not be as many flights leaving that day, so it will not be such a busy day.

My original plan was to fly to LAS for the hell of it. I'm afraid that has been cancelled. I got a promotion at work 3 weeks ago and now I have to go to Sacramento and San Francisco instead. I hate 17 hour days! I like the extra $200 per week though.

Do whatever it is I'm going to do on that day, be it work, no work, play with the puppy, run errands...doesn't mean I'm not going to think about what happened on this day and where I was leat year, but I'm sick of this whole 9/11 thing. After 9/11/02, people need to move on. No more of this "it has been an exceptionally though year" blah blah blah.

I don't go to work till early afternoon, so I'll take my youngest to DayCare a little early, and watch the Memorial Serivices while getting ready for the day. Then it's off to work-I'll wear my American Flag tie, for sure, and maybe stop in to visit the Airport Chapel for a brief moment.

I think going about my life as normal as possible is the best and most fitting tribute to those who died at the hands of these sub-humans. And, I think as a form of "penance", if you will (for lack of a better term), I'll stay away from here for the day.

And, then the next day, the Alpha's are going on a weekend trip to SAT.

I'll continue to think that human-beings are deeply dangerous to themselves and other forms of life, selfish, greedy, crazy. And not only the people who were born in the countries labelled "axis of evil" by a stupid cowboy.

Well, I have a lot of relatives who are (or were) firefighters. One of them went down to Ground Zero right as all this stuff went down to help in the rescue (he's a firefighter, EMT, and a certified heavy duty rescue tech), and Ive heard lots of stories from all of them about losing your brothers in arms, both from 9/11 and in the general line of duty, so that night Im going to go to my usual watering hole and give a toast to all the guys we lost that day.
Excuse me, but what does God need with a starship?

I'm on an early shift that day, so we should depart the BA001 to JFK, it was still due to go last time I checked, but about 90 minutes later, presumably to avoid arriving at JFK at the normal time of 09:20 a.m. when there are bound to be memorial ceremonies going on.
I expect there will be some kind of ceremony at work, like a minutes silence, after all we are in the same business as UA and AA.

I'll remember where I was and how I heard, of course - as you tend to do with events of that magnitude. Think of those who suffered, those who died, and where it has led us. But otherwise go about life. There are some things we can't afford to forget, just as there are some things we need to remember... and going about our daily lives is one of them.
The media will lose any shred of credibility that it still has, by turning the whole day (week?) into a tear-jerking circus; and those who died, and those who suffered deserve better.
I was totally sickened this morning to open a daily newspaper here "The Australian", to see a full page (Broadsheet) colored advertisement for the paper's weekend coverage of the anniversary. It showed a full-page photograph of a jet engine lying in rubble. The caption????
"Remember when flying was fun?"
That destroyed the newspaper's credibility for all time with me. It was sick, perverted and sensationalist. I just can't express my anger strongly enough.
