The Simpsons Live In....

Springfield VA.

Not sure if this had been covered or not.


Saw tonights episode and there it was I-95, quick search yielded I-95 in Springfield VA.

Yes, but they make references to many different Springfields across the country in different episodes, so they don't really live anywhere, they kindof live in a mythical state that does not really exist.

Springfield is a made up town. It's not based on an actual US city.

On tonights they gave out their telephone number. It was a St. Louis area code (636).

The episode shown today showed the elevation of Springfield at around 1500 ft. (It was a more precise number on the TV, but I only remember
it was around 1500 because thats about the same altitude as Phoenix Smile)

Springfield where the Simpsons live is based on Springfield, MA. That's how Matt Groening did it - that's proven. Of course the Simpsons' Springfield is more like mixture of various typical U.S. cities and the area around Springfield includes all types of different landscape (sea, forest, mountains, desert, river...) nowhere to be found in the U.S..

Matt Groening was raised in Springfield, Oregon. Seeing as the simpsons are based on his family members, I think it's fair to say he based Springfield on his original home town as well.
