Afghanistan-One Year On

Tue Oct 08, 2002 12:43 am

A piece here on Afghanistan a year since the War On Terrorism started;
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,5673,805912,00.html

The writer makes reference to Mullar Omar and Bin-Laden chatting, this is from reports that their voice signatures are thought to have been picked up by electronic surveillance recently.

Many of the facts on the site about the origin of the Taliban and the Kashmir conflict are twisted beyond belief.

OriginallyI thought that a talk here would be on about the people of Afghanistan and their need to get peace which has been gone now for the generations, but as usual and as others this article too wasn't written in that perspective AT ALL. Only an Afghan women on perhps BBC or CNN said what the Afghans truely wanna say it was something like:
"The Russians bombed us because they wanted to bring us communism, the Americans bombed us because they wanted to bring us democracy, one wonders why is always an Afghan on the receiving end of it?"
No one answered it in that program and no one answers it now, it like as if nothing has happened. Its tragic, not something that a civilizd person or a person part of the civilized world would do.
