Highes Tuition Fees In The US?

Tue Oct 29, 2002 3:06 pm

Hey guys;

Just writing a paper here, and I am trying to find out which US universities have the highest undergraduate tuition fees. Are the Ivy League schools the most expensive, and so forth? I really have no idea so any info on which schools are the mose expensive, and how much they cost would be much appreciated.

Also, if you know of any schools elsewhere in the world with even higher tuitions, mention it. (e.g., are Oxford and Cambridge, and Sorbonne and such very expensive as well?)

Thanks!

Adam

I think Caltech (California Institute of Technology) in Los Angeles has the highest in the country now...last time I checked, the tuitions was around $41K/year. Yikes!

I'm willing to bet that the Ivy League schools have the highest tuition out there. Try their websites and pretend like you are applying.

Yeah, expect to pay around $35k for Harvard which is insane. Studies show there isn't really a huge difference in income levels between State school grads and Ivy League grads. And these days you can't assume everyone that gets in is bright with all the jocks being recruited.

Which is why I plan on going somewhere average for undergrad and then shooting for Yale when it comes to grad school. I don't need a garguantan loan hanging over my head by the time I graduate - so University of Durham/Aberdeen/Reading/Cardiff (wherever I get in) here I come. Columbia/Yale/Oxford etc will be where I'll be heading to do research (assuming I don't waste my three years drinking and doing no work ;-]).

If I get into uni in the states it's going to be on a huge amount of financial aid, and with my SAT results (750 verbal, awful maths score) I'm not sure how likely that is right now. Going to have to retake to improve the maths and then we'll see.

But save the cash. As long as you're not at some godawful no name school then there's not a huge difference between a place that lacks prestige and the ivy league.

$921 per semester at San Diego State University. Take as many units as you want.

As part of my degree at King's College London I spent 6 months in Paris at the Sorbonne and it was free! It wasn't actually that good a University (IMHO) compared to London - the facilities were terrible.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?
