Six Flags New Orleans!

Sat Nov 16, 2002 5:04 pm

Jazzland Theme Park in New Orleans has been taken over by Six Flags and renamed "Six Flags New Orleans".

Six Flags is planning massive improvements to the park, over $20 million in upgrades and enhancements, for the upcoming season. Included in this will be six new rides (including two big roller coasters), new themed areas, and other enhancements. Also, look for a water park to be built in the next few years.

Six Flags New Orleans is expected to be instantly profitable, and new rides will be added every year.

This is very exciting! I won't have to drive to Houston anymore to experience a Six Flags park! Smile

You know, this is the rare merger/buy that always seems to end up turning out well. The Six Flags group really seems to run great parks. Can't wait to check this latest acquisition out in a year or two!

Whoa, I'm jealous Steve. First you guys get a NBA team, now a Six Flags park. Six Flags are the best theme parks out there! When I lived in Chicago, we would go to Six Flags Great America every so often, and it was great.

If anyone knows how to make a great theme park, it's Six Flags  Big thumbs up

Six Flags have taken over the La Ronde amusement park here in Montreal. The park hasn't changed much, but we do have an amazing new roller coaster and some other new rides!

Six Flags took over Riverside up here in MA and turned it into a great park, they put in a Superman and Batman coasters, Scream and some cool water rides. The actual prices to get in are pretty steep but if you go to AAA they have passes for about half price. They also have this thing where you can rent this gadget that allows you to cut in front of the lines, it's like the fast pass in Disney but better, the downside is it costs $50 for 4 people but in my opinion it is worth every penny.

Oh my god...I LOVED the Superman ride at Six Flgs New England! I must have rode on that thing 10 times in a row! The classic 200 ft drop at 90 mph is it? It was extremely intense! Magic Mountain out near LAX has some amazing ones too. And Islands of Adventure in MCO has a great coaster, "The Incredible Hulk".

Six Flags has a good record of rehabbing unprofitable parks and upgrading parks as well. Premier Parks, which acquired Six Flags a few years back has made some great improvements at Six Flags Over Georgia during the last few years. In a two year span (2001-02) they added three rides to the park, Acrophobia, Deja Vu, and Superman Ultimate Flight. The previous owners of the park would put a big ride in every few years of so, and sometimes the new rides were second hand rides that were already outdated. They haven't said anything about any new rides there for next season, they'll probably announce any new rides in the next few months, but I really would love to see a coaster along the lines of Cedar Point's Millenium Force.

Six flags screwed up when they bought Sea World of Ohio. Attendance has been way down because people dont want to do see shakeria (or what ever the killer whales name is), they want to see shamu
