Hello all, As to my user name "IHadAPheo"...
A Pheochromocytoma is a tumor of the adrenal glands (well to be exact any catecholamine-secreting tumor derived from chromaffin cells but mostly in the adrenal glands) these can be quite nasty, and was particularly so in my case.
My "Pheo" decided to show itself during a surgical procedure that was supposed to be quite simple. It showed itself by causing me to be dead for a bit and with the heroic efforts of my surgeon and his team I was brought back from the dead. So the next thing I know I awake intubted (on a ventilator), restrained and with a tube coming out of every bodily orifice. After a week I was deemed stable enough to have my right adrenal gland removed (an adrenalectomy) and about 3 weeks after this I was released from hospital. After my release it was still another 8 weeks before I returned to work.
So IHadAPheo = I Had A Pheo (chromocytoma)
The top image shows where the adrenal glands are located while the image on the bottom shows an actual pheochromocytoma as indicated by the "M"
