How To Post Photos On Trip Reports?

Mon Jan 06, 2003 12:04 pm

I've just gotten a digital camera and made a DFW-MDW trip and have several photos I'd like to include in the body of my trip report.

How do I attach them to the report? I can't seem to figure it out based on the 'help' section of this forum.

Also, the pictures are quite large - between 600K and 700K - and will take forever to load. Is there a way to reduce them in size.

Any advice is appreciated.

Does your ISP provide you with a certain amount of free webspace? Almost every ISP does. You'll have to upload the photos there, then link to them on your trip report post.

As for reducing the size of the pics, yes you can do that. Download IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com) and do a batch conversion and bring the JPEG quality slider down. If they are big pixel-wise, you can reduce the size there also.

If that's too much for you, you might email them to me and I'll do it for you, depending on how many pics you have.

Good luck, and I can't wait to see the trip report!

Thanks, Shawn.

The program is great. I've resized most of the pictures, and hope to have the report posted later this evening.

OK, another question... how do I type in the link in my trip report to include the picture? I am really lost here...  Sad

I'm trying to link to a photo that's in a Yahoo briefcase, but I want the image to appear directly with the trip report. I've seen this done in other reports but can't seem to make it work.

HELP

First of all, yahoo briefcase won't work for that. It doesn't support hotlinking. Check to see if your ISP will allow it, that's probably the only other option. If not, you could provide a link to your yahoo briefcase, maybe?

To post a picture, you post < img src="http://users.att.net/username/pic.jpg" > (take out the spaces before and after the < >

yes, that is correct. Could be anywhere, but you might prefer the storage-space your ISP offered, instead of Geocities etc, because of the banners.
