BC Premier Charged For DUI

Sat Jan 11, 2003 1:10 pm

And I thought their new leadership was finally starting to turn things around over there.  Insane Anyways, this is the just latest of a string of BC Provincial leaders who have run into legal troubles.

What a bum! He should resign asap. I have zero tolerance for this crap, especially from someone old enough to know better, and a political leader.

Depends on the BAC. What did he have vs. the legal limit. If two beers sets off the legal limit, I'd cut him a little slack.

Neil: My former Premier, Ralph Klein, has a history of alcoholism and events that stem from it and there has been no public plea for his dismissal. Then again, Alberta has done very well under Klein's stewardship whereas BC seems to stumble no matter who's in charge.

As a premier, he should set a higher standard as an example for everyone, esp impressionable BC teens. He should resign.

Good point Rai, but Klein (to my knowledge) was never charged with DUI.

Innocence til guilt is proven, so mum is the word until the BAC is back.

Guess we're going back to having the "BC Premier of the Week". Why can't this ever happen to the politicians who really deserve it: The PQ?

All I know is that Joe Clark knew squat about salmon conservation or how to count fish.

OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

He should step down on his own if people in BC didn't ask him to. He should feel disgrace.

It's ironic because when he became the Premier, he asked for tougher laws on drinking and driving.

Here's something really funny and ironic that they've been broadcasting here in Vancouver on the local news channel...

Apparently, when he was arrested, he did not tell the police that he was a political leader or anything and pretended to be a regular Joe Blow from BC and then a few hours after they released him, the clown phones up the Maui police and asks "Is there going to be a press release about this???" and the police officer told him "No?!" Then, this got the cop wondering why this "Gordon Campbell" wanted to know about it, did some investigating, found out it was the premier of BC, and the news was out! LOL!!! If he had of kept his mouth shut, he would've been home free.

Also, like normal BC politics, this is all over the news and everyone is talking about it. I even drove through a roadbloack (they check drivers if they've been drinking) and the first thing I said to the cop was "What's wrong? Are you waiting for Gordon Campbell to come home?" and the cop just bursted out laughing... good ol' BC! It's too bad I have to go to Toronto in the morning (On Westjet 682!)  Sad
