I guessed this is a good forum in which i can have the appropriate help !!!

Jews in the audiance may have the answer, otherwise it would be a doubtful sign of their faith !!!

I just want to read the verses which describe our Prophet Mohamed,if they have not been erased of course !!!

What on Earth are you babbling about?! The faith of Jews of A.net should be in doubt if they don't have internet links to the Torah? Mohammed is in it, and we've been erasing those passeges?

Were you drunk/high at the time of posting?

I think if you were Jewish you would have a Torah, not refer to an internet version?

No, Torahs' can be rather large and expensive and are therefore typically found just in the synagogue. Other literature is used at home.

well, if it was a joke. You can find an English translation of the Torah, here: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/6181/HebEngTaNaKhIndex.html this is apparently under construction, as he only has the first 3 books. I'll post more resources as I find them.

While you won't find a Torah itself in the typical Jewish homes, you'll find its writings in various languages and translations in printed text editions. The reason is because of the expense and value of atrue Torah scroll. The scroll is prepared by a specially trained scribe, on the treated skin of a kosher animal. The pen is a quill made from the feather of a kosher bird. Thw writing process is very long and difficult, mistakes are a serious concern. If the scribe incorrectly writes one of the names of G-d, the scroll is ruined. Once finished, the pieces are sewn together, the wooden rollers are attached and the Torah is dressed in its finery, usually some silk and gold coverings. Needless to say this can take a very long time.

You can also get the Torah in the form of books. I have a set on my bookshelf back at home, five hardcover books.

just do a search for the "JPS Tanach" its the whole "bible (all 3 parts, not just the Torah). Otherwise, if you want to buy one, Artscroll's Chumash is fantastic for the Torah.

may i ask what this is for?>

If that question is directed at me, I'm afraid I haven't studied the Jewish texts since my Bar Mitzvah, and my current source is a sole copy of "Jewish Literacy" by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, a rather large and complete text that tells you practically everything about Judaism. I've never owned any copies of the Torah or Tanach, and think now might be a good time to start.

Isnt the Torah basically the first 4 books of the new testament of the Bible?

Or is that somthing else?

And if it is the first 4 books of the new testament, arent I correct in stating that there is no mention of Mohamed? I sure havent read anything about him in the Bible.

ACC320,

Indeed, if you want to go to your ordinary bookstore, I don't know if you will find a book version of the Torah. I recieved as a gift a hardbound set of five books, where there was the Hebrew on the left, English translation on the right, and commentary on the bottom. Each book was one of the five of the Torah. For my Bar Mitzvah I also recieved a copy of the Tanach, it is on big f*&#ing book  Laugh out loud

Of course, Jews are the worlds largest book club. We write books, then we write commentary on those books, then we write books about the commentary, commentary about those books, etc. etc. etc.  Laugh out loud

Oh, found a full copy of the tanach in Hebrew and English on amazon.com for only $40, it'll be here in a few days. Wish I paid more attention in Hebrew classes way back during elementary, 6 years of the langueage and I can only read a few prayers and say "shalom".

ts-ior, jews rarely refer to the torah for completing every day tasks. its much more of a sort of "big picture guide" for life. be good, loving, kind, santcify god, etc....

only the very most religious jews consult the torah on a daily schedule, and i think these people are nuts.

there is nothing about the prophet muhammad in the torah. he came around hundreds of years after it was written.

Torah = first five books, the books of Moses = Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy

Nevi'im = writings = Psalms, Proverbs, Lamentations, Song of Songs, Kings, Solomon, Chronicles

Ketuv'im = prophets = Jeremiah, Isaiah, Jonah, Nahum, Esther, Ezekiel.....

TaNaKh = Tanakh = full canon of Jewish scripture

If you actually get a copy of the Tanakh you will find the books in a different order than in the Christian Old Testament. In the Christian Bible the books are in relative chronological order; in the Jewish Tanakh they are grouped as above.

Here is a link to Amazon.com's listing of the Tanakh which I own ($22.00 paperback):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0827603665/qid=1044572601/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3/104-6600611-4823145

(I took a class in Jewish Literature while in college -- towards my minor in Religious Studies.)
