You think THAT burns, try eating some habañeros. Then, the next day, when you have to spend some quality time in your office, you'll know what burning feels like.

Psh, burping is NOT a talent, it is purely disgusting when people amplify it and I do not care for the act of channeling it in any respect.

But when it does go through the nose, why does it hurt? Are the vapors of stomach acid attached to the CO2 molecules and they bug with our sensitive nerves or something??

Anybody?

Lehpron, it IS a talent. Anyone can burb, yes. But not everyone can wake neighbors up. The burning sensation is caused in the epinorphis. This is the same area of the nose that burns when you get water up your nose when swimming. Carbonation bubbles burst in the stomach as a result of contact with stomach acid (its like shaking up a the soda, but 5x more). The resulting gas has residual bicabonate reactions that create a vapor called trisolmotane. This irritates the lining in the nasal cavity and caused acute inflamation.

I cannot voluntarily make myself burp...I involuntarily burp softly about 6-10 times a year...thats it for burping with me, and yes, I do drink a lot of soda...
