Sorry to break out from "current theme of the week",
I know that in some states, Maryland for example, each hight school student, must accomplish certain amount of hours (60 or 120) for the community. This can be done by working in the volunteer organizations, hopsitals etc.
While I live in NJ, we do not have nothing like this over here. Last summer, I became a lifeguard. This was interesting job, well paid, and not that tired. I work on the private pool, and thus people do not swimm that much.
Well, I knew that my friend in school, he was member of the First Aid Squad. B/c I wsa interested, I have joined the Iselin First Aid. Now, I am taking an EMT course, which is 6 months long. Honestly, I have not believed that one can enjoy helping out.
Now, I was wondering, is anybody else member of any volunteer organization? And also, how it is in other countries. IN the high school, do you have to spend certain amount of hours for the community, to graduate?
Thanks, and any insight is appriciated.
