Favorite 80s TV Show

Sat Feb 22, 2003 7:16 am

Yeah, just like the title says....

Nothing is quite better than Knight Rider, I could literally watch reruns all day long and it would never get old. My only question is why Michael never boned April or Bonnie. KITT is awesome, I wish my car had turbo boost.

(I am currently watching it on Sci-Fi...the car show episode)

Arg, how can I forget one of the great single-night lineups ever in the early 80's, when I was in college! NBC, Thursday nights, from 8 till 11, Eastern:

-The Cosby Show
-Family Ties
-Cheers
-Night Court
-Hill Street Blues.

Never did a damn bit of homework on thursdays back then.  Big thumbs up

Oh, yeah, Quantam Leap! How could I forget that one! Scott Bakula was great in that series.

I also liked the series Sliders, and I did like SeaQest, too-especially when they "remade" it after a few years, when Michael Ironsides was the Captain.

Quantam Leap!!! Awesome show.

What was the other time travel series? The guy accidently killed himself on the set by blowing his brains out with a gun filled with blanks.

One of my all-time favorites. I remember staying up to watch them on MTV at 11 p.m. on Sunday nights during Summer Vacation or when we didn't have school on Monday.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire....

Can I just ask though, if they were a crack commando unit, how come they couldn't hit a proverbial barn door?

My vote definately also goes for MacGyver... at least before the show turned into a political quest.  Sad

What? No "Dynasty" or "Dallas" fans out here? I loved watching Dynasty because it was just so outrageously over the top. And those hairstyles and
shimmerin shoulder-padded outfits! LOL. I also had a MAJOR crush on the original Fallon Carrington, played by the beautiful Pamela Sue Martin. Actually, a lot of guys I knew back then were die-hard Pam Sue Martin fans. Did you ever notice that the main pastime of both the Carrington and the Ewing
families was DRINKING? Honest to God, it seemed every other scene there was alcohol being poured.

And no-one mentioned "The Equalizer"? Awesome show. Great scripts.

My brothers and I also liked watching "Simon and Simon". My mom was a
die-hard "Falcon Crest" fan. I couldn't stand that show.

Good grief, a couple of (men?) in this thread actually cited "The Golden Girls."

The best TV show of the 1980s-early 90s was "Cheers." Best written, acted, and produced. Same essential team of people now produce "Frasier" (except for Executive Producer David Angell who was killed along with his wife on AA#11 on 9/11/01). Those two shows together span nearly 20 years of very high quality TV comedy.

Police Squad! The eight episode Leslie Nielsen comedy that spawned "The Naked Gun." Rent the tapes at Blockbuster...then piss yourself laughing.

Battlestar Galactica. Cool ships, dorky uniforms, allusions to Greek and Egyptian mythology, it has it all. The toys were cool, too, until some moron kid shot his eye out with the Colonial Viper rocket and they fixed them so they wouldn't shoot anymore.

Surprised with the number of "Night Court" votes.
I concur, and would like to point out that my 2 favorite reasons for watching were installed on the upper torso of Markie Post.
