Getting Ready For My Tetanus Injection

Wed Feb 26, 2003 1:43 am

 Smile Hi everyone!  Smile

Next week i'm supposed to be having my tetanus, diptheria and polio vaccinations. I am really scared and hate injections, and usually faint after i've had it done.
This time, I'm having it done at school, so I don't want to faint. This is really a question for the people who have had their tetanus booster recently:

Do you have it in your arm or your leg?

Thanks for any help.

Ever since not being a baby anymore, I got them in the arm. Polio was no injection, but a sugar cube with the serum on it. Hepatitis, Yellow Feaver, refreshments - all in my upper left arm. I didn't bother that little twitch, maybe imagining you had cut might help.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I hope it's in the arm. I did read somewhere that polio was a tablet, and then Tetanus and Diptheria were both together in the same injection.

Hey, I remember those. The needle was about the same length and breadth as a chopstick. I thought it would come out the other side of my arm.

Enjoy!

Just kidding  Big grin

When you're in there, just concentrate on something in the office, like the inner workings of that telephone. Or imagine the nurse naked and dropping to her knees (or his knees, depending on your preference in these matters).

I do it in the arm. Don't look at the needle that may help. Otherwise look at it smile and take it like a man!

It should be in the arm, in your weaker arm (so that if it goes numb you don't have trouble writing Big grin), just look away and think of the pain as what they describe (Normally, 'you will feel a sharp scratch')..... They are relatively easy and painless really..

I tihnk there is one tablet, or at least I had a tablet... can't remember which I took though (hepetitis B, or A.. Polio, diptheria and loads more... I had 6 in all)...

I got three tetanus injections last year... you have to get three of them before you are immune.

I hate those injections also... as a young guy I almost died because the doctors didn't know I'm very allergic to insuline. And once you have a certain age, you get injections of several things over here... anyway, thanks to those injections I now know I'm allergic to insuline...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I got about 3 injections (chicken pox, and 2 others) and an HIV test all in one visit as part of my immigration requirements. Fun, fun, fun!

oooooooh, Tetanus BURRRRNS. Not to mention, it feels like they are stabbing you with the needle. At least they don't put the needle in and search for a vein.

I just had mine Wednesday! It doesn't hurt much until afterwards, where it becomes sore for one or two days. It'll be ok, I hate shots too, and I'm still here  Smile

Actually, my boyfriend and best friend just got theirs pulled last month. My boyfriend was doing very very well by the 3rd day afterward. My friend who had to get her teeth removed from out under the gum, took a while to recover, but she was chewing solid foods (slowly) by the end of the week.  Smile

Actually...my friend wasn't allowed to use a straw, because the "sucking" (Yes, I *know* that sounds dirty) you do with a straw could possibly rupture a blood vessel in your new holes in your mouth. (That won't be like that forever) So be careful...

Don't forget the JELL-O!

Tetanus really isn't all that bad, honest. Bad is when you get tetanus, yellow fever, and cholera all at the same time.

Wwwwwhhhhaaaaaa... Delta! "We don't say such things in class!" By the way, I had my wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthesia. So it didn't hurt! I guess that was one of the advantages of private healthcare over state. Oh, and the food i got in the hospital after my wt had been removed was actually better than that I had gotten before - soups all the way, and the dessert was strawberry puree. Yum yum! But I wasn't allowed to honk, nor could I eat something else than semolina pudding or potato mash back home.

Anyway - good luck!
