North Korean Missile May Have Landed In Alaska!

Wed Mar 05, 2003 4:35 pm

A report in the Korean Times says that parts from a North Korean test shot of one of their missiles was found in my home, Alaska.

The lack of specifics in the article and denials by local authorities here lead to questions about the accuracy of the article but it does restate the importance of the National missile Defense. The first silos of which are being built up in Ft. Greely right now.

Here is the original article.

National Missile Defense? The one the world over criticises the U.S. for, like its some sort of offensive weapon? Surely there is no need for it, I mean so North Korea might be able to hit us with a missle, I guess we should just do nothing about it. Defending yourself.....what a bitch it is.

>>wouldn't NORAD have tracked an inbound missile like that?<<

NORAD can only track things that are bigger than a grapefruit. Usually, this poses no problem as missles are usually bigger than that.

WHAT MISSILE ????????

The only one I know of was the test in 1998 which was initially thought to have landed in the Sea of Japan, then in the pacific but was eventually known to have ended up in the Gulf of Alaska - the later info taking about 8 days to emerge.

It was a volleyball sized cylinder which the DPRK claimed was a satellite launch gone wrong - but who knows.

See that is the problem with this article.

They don't mention where it was found.

You would be amazed at the stuff that I found beachcombing.

Although the National Missle Defense is defensive, it is criticized because it breaks down the mutual assured destruction component of nuclear security that has kept the world out of nuclear war so far.
