comedy is frequently aimed at a slightly higher mental level than American TV
. American TV
seems to be aimed at about a 11-12 year old level. I mean the jokes and pranks are really basic. Roseanne
was supposed to be funny ?!?
British comedy was aimed quite a bit higher. Things like BlackAdder
and Yes, Minister
seem to be beyond the grasp of most younger teens (my kids' age) who seem to think Friends
is funny as hell, but seem to miss every single joke from British comedy (except Benny Hill). Just look at Yes, Minister
- you pretty much have to have already an idea of what government and bureaucracies are like to appreciate it - and show me a teenager who does.
The only thing you should feel when shooting a terrorist: Recoil.
