Airbus After The War

Tue Mar 25, 2003 10:31 am

Here is a question to all of you who have decided to hate France because of their stands on the actual war.

Airbus is owned partly by French interests and British interests.

Should Airlines in US stop buying from Airbus because they are partly French or should they keep on buying Airbus because they are partly British?  Confused

After all, because of this war, most Airlines will face difficulties, including Airplane manufacturers.

Airbus has nothing to do with French policy towards the war in Iraq. So why even ask?

and German and Italian and Spanish interests...

There are a lot of parts made in the good ol USA on the Airbus too.

I don't think airlines are going to think about political situations, they will instead consider who gives them the best deal.

I don't see NW and USAir selling off their Airbuses and going for 737NGs

So should Southwest not buy anymore B737s because CFM engines are partly made by the French?

Boeing's are not 100% American, and Airbus are not 100% French/German/British either.

I think Airbus will get a huge order to rebuild Iraqi Airways.

I think sanctions against Airbus would be the economical equivalent of
using nuclear bombs. Then all hell goes lose in the transatlantic
trade relations. I think Boeing would do everything to avoid such
a move (after all they have high steaks in Europe). Even hard core
repubilicans should understand this.
