I'm Going Skydiving

Tue Mar 25, 2003 11:50 pm

In 3 hours I will be strapped to my instructor and pushed of an airplane at 13 000ft. In the first 2 seconds overboard I will reach a speed of 17.6meters per sec. After 6 seconds in the air I will be flying at a speed of 58.8MperSec and so on

The point of this threat is: I am TERRIFIED!

Have any of you done that? Share your experiences.

Rofl,

Hope you have a good time, I spoke to someone a while back who has been skydiving, he showed me the pictures and it was obvious he really enjoyed it (looked surreal with the photos being taken in the clouds, like there were in a studio and they weren't moving at all).

Tandem jumps are great fun, unless if you're homophobic. Freefalling is a must for anyone to try one day, especially if you jump in places where the scenery is just amazing. When the chute opens, you won't hear any cars, people talking, or even wind noise. Just a little flapping from the chute, but otherwise absolutely quiet.

I made a few jumps, till I ran out of money.

Did my first tandem in Hawaii.....awesome experience.
The fear only lasted until the moment we exited the plane; then it was just a huge adrenaline rush.
The worst part was signing all those waivers with statements ending with the words "death"....
Make sure you get someone to videotape it. Good thing to have especially if you don't plan on jumping again.

Congratulations! I will be taking my "first jump" soon!

I have wanted to sky dive for so long...... In Toronto......or should I say just outside TO there is a club called the "Markham Skydiving Club" ...its' not too far from my home. I have been there many times for the day watching new & experienced people jump. The new people have to wear "red" suits and their wing is red/white stripes...

I want to jump on my own so I will be jumping from 3,000 ft. After you have so many jumps under your belt and if they feel you are ready then you can jump from 10,000 ft!

I can't wait....I'd love to night jump.......

Have fun...and be sure to report back!

I JUST GOT BACK!

It was my first jump and it was a tandem jump.
There were only four jumpers(including me and my instructor) so we didn't take a good looking Twin Otter but a beat up Cessna! The rate of climb sucked but it is a good thing because I had a chance to enjoy more aircraft flying.
I strapped to my instructor at 8 000ft We opened the door at 11 000 and jumped out at about 11 500. I experienced NO FEAR at all! 40 seconds of free fall and 5 more minutes under the canopy. An AWESOME EXPERIENCE!
Great 'stand up' landing too.

I payed for a second jump right away, will jump next weekend. The third one will be solo!

......Haven't eaten all day, because was afraid to become a first member of this fine site to vomit at the sight of an airplane  Smile
