ID This Drone That Just Came Down In Baghdad?

Fri Mar 28, 2003 7:19 pm

I seem to recall the US Navy having a twin-boom pusher drone.
Can anyone be specific?

Sure looks like one of the Israeli UAVs, forget the original name (or did they call it "Pioneer" too?).

I saw video on CNN showing a drone sitting on the ground, with paracute deployed, with dozens of Iraqis dancing around it. Im betting that it was this drone.

Sure was a weird celebration though. The soldiers were waving their guns in the air and dancing in circles, while a small kid took off his shoe and beat the drone with it.

Wierd.

It was a British Army GEC Phoenix UAV, and that footage is from Basra, other footage showed the wreck on the ground, complete with UK roundel and serial (ZJ something)

LMAO! That's exactly what I saw and pretty much my reaction.

I also saw footage of an Iraqi man beating a mural of Saddam with his shoe. Can someone explain the custom? Sort of an Iraqi/Middle Eastern equivalent of the middle finger?
