The Imortal Hulk Hogan May Be Out Job At Wm19

Sun Mar 30, 2003 7:29 am

If vince mcmann beats hulk hogan at wrestlemania 19 this sunday the red and yellow could disapear from wrestling for good so as I know there is a few wrestling fans on this whats your best memories of the great legend and icon of wrestling.

My best memories would have to be his matches against another legend the undertaker at the start of the 1990's and against ultimate wareor at wrestlemania 5 where he lost the epic battle and posibley won of his best ever performances and finaly when he power slamed aundrey the giant the only man ever to do so taking the mantle and runing with it revolushonising pro wrestling whats your hulkamania memories?

Hulkamania STILL runing wild !

Yeah, that and the XFL was a great idea.

Regardless of what happens, it won't be the end of the Hulk.

Goldberg is debuting on Raw this Monday. Might show up at Mania. And i have to figure that Hogan will beat Vince, but his retirement is right around the corner. His back is said to be in pretty bad shape.

KROC, Goldberg is on WWE? COOL!! My wife thinks he's a big teddy bear. I love his intro music  Big grin

He'll add some more fire to WWE. I don't follow the "wraslin'" like I used to-even though I'm definitely a red-blooded male, I don't get into all the sex, and sexual innuendo on something small kids watch regularly-I still get into the actual wrestling from time to time.

How 'bout Goldberg taking on The Rock, or Triple H, or Stone Cold? I'll watch that any time!  Big thumbs up

Goldberg's first program is scheduled as of now with the Rock. They will meet at the next PPV, Backlash. It will be the Rock's last appearance for sometime as he leaves to film another movie.

Goldberg coming back? Damn, WWE has almost all of 'em now.

The most impressive thing I can remember Hulk doing..and I saw this once on someone's cable TV public access show.. was some old footage, presumably shown without permission - of Hulk Hogan facing Andre the Giant...but when Hogan was a bad guy..and Andre was the good guy... It was NOT the Wrestlemania footage.. and anyway, Hulk REALLY presses Andre the Giant over his head and Power Slams him. It was impressive.. not the barely executed move we saw at Wrestlemania..when The Hulkster's skills were already in serious decline..all those many years ago.

***Bmi330 is booed all the way back to the locker room***

Anyway, my question still lingers why doesn't Smackdown have any talent anymore? When John Cena is your main eventer you know you're in trouble. The only big names I can think of anymore are Kurt Angle, Big Show, and Undertaker. Sure you have Brock who is blazing a path much like Angle, but other than that, the only other guy I ever even watch for when I do get to watch is Rikishi. Point is, why don't we have half the share of main eventers on Smackdown. Last time I checked, Raw also had about twice as many wrestlers on their roster. Dumb if you ask me, but maybe some wrestlers just don't like being on a smaller network like UPN?

Cheers

Raw has the much better roster because RAW is the flagship WWE show. They have the best chance on TNN to reach the most homes. Also, they can be more riskier with their content due to the network. I would expect though, that with the recent build up on RAW, there will be some talent going over to Smackdown sometime soon. With Edge on the shelf for a year, and Kurt Angle going for the same neck surgery as Edge (and Austin), they will be down another main eventer for a year. I also think they are using Smackdown to develop more characters for the busines, giving them invaluable prime time exposure. As for John Cena...don't under estimate him. He moved to the top fairly quickly because he has good in ring skill, and because his gimmick caught on, and has become very popular. It works for him, especially as a heel.

BMI330-Just a correction, Hulk Body Slammed Andre. PowerSlam is what the British Bulldog did, when you catch the guy running. I have to say my fav Hulk moment was the hour and half long match against the Ultimate Warrior. Great match. I also liked it when he got tombstoned against the Undertaker, or when he fought Macho Man, or Psycho Sid. I love the old wrestling, not the new crap.

I'm a Hulkamaniac...have been since I was like 4...

My best Hogan memory was in 1994, in the Superdome. I was only 5, but I remember the final match: Iron Sheik vs. Hulk Hogan for the WWF championship. Hogan won the match and regained the belt. I also saw him in 1997 at a WCW Nitro event in the Superdome: Hollywood Hogan vs. The Giant. And guess what? Hogan bodyslammed him. I thought that was impressive as he was getting up in age by that time.

I still have old Hulk Hogan memorabilia...posters, figures, even a tee shirt or two.

Hulk's a classic...he will be missed when he finally retires those red boots.

Random thoughts...

John Cena's gimmick is quite good. He's a star.

Macho Man vs. Ricky dragon Steamboat... that would stand up today.

Eddie Guerrero is very underestimated.

WCW lesser lights... Where are they now?
The "Chairman" of the WCW these days? That was funny.

Where is Norman Smm-EYE-lay? His vulgar dance would be good for some laughs in wwe.

Alex Wright... He was 1st boring as a good guy...but his disco Euro-trash persona was entertaining - (prior to his playing the later nazi-type character).
Plus, he could actually wrestle.

Macho Man vs. Steamboat as well as Ric Flair vs. Steamboat from back in the say would stand up as well today. They should be mandatory viewing for in ring performance.

Cena's gimmick is good and popular like i had mentioned. I think he would b even mroe over if he actually 'rapped' more than just did a spoken normal type rap.

Eddie G and Chavo are both underrated, and are great in ring performers. I'm not down with their "Lie, Cheat, and Steal" Gimmick though. Its funny, but unless they are going to be heels, it really has no point.

The WCW Cruiserweights are on Smackdown. As usual, the WWE is fucking them up. They told Mysterio as well as several others to tone down the pace and moves of their matches. Thats like telling a boxer to limit the amount of punches he throws. Now and then though, there are still a good match or two. Thing is, they have Matt Hardy with the Light HW title. Get it off him, and onto someone that actually can carry the division.

Norman is still around I believe. It has been awhile since I heard anything, but he was working on the independent circuit.

Alex Wright. His Euro Trash limited Dance Move gimmick was good. Like Jerichos heel gimmick in the WCW. His heel gimmick now isn't anywhere near as good. Wright though, seems to have dropped off of the scene.

KROC, I go back farther, especially with WCW, when it was the NWA. How about when "The American Dream", Dusty Rhodes, and "The Russian Nightmare", Nikita Koloff, took on the Original 4 Horseman?

That was good "wraslin'"  Big thumbs up

I pretty much stopped watching Wrestling when Shawn Micheal's got injured, him and Hogan were my Favourite wrestlers. I just don't like the new wrestlers so I don't watch it anymore and that is why they aren't making money right now. They need a new Hogan, Rock whatever but someone.

D8K, you hear HBK is back in the ring?

Also, I wasn't paying attention, but was Nathan Jones actually hurt, or did the scripters just not want him in a WMania match? Does he suck that badly, or am I mistaken?

Cheers

SST. I'm sure it was scripted that way. I'm sure you don't want a very green rookie making his first match at WrestlMania, incase he does blow it.

How about John Cena though? His solo rap battle was classic. Full of some of the better diss lines I have heard in recent times!!!

A Hulk Hogan - Vince McMahon match? Well, I stopped watching Wrestling in 1993 (after 9 years)... But I would turn on the TV to see that fight. How many stars will the Wrestling Observer Newsletter award to this match? Well,
-***** I guess  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I started watching Wrestling back in 1983/84, and one of the first matches I saw was Hogan winning the title from The Iron Sheik. My favourites were the likes of Randy Savage, Curt Henning and Ric Flair...

HAH HAH HAH!!!, there is only one major brand in sports entertainment now, WWE. WWF absorbed ECW then WCW and now has pretty much a monopoly. I think the real question is what's the second now? OVW, maybe NWA-TNA?

Seeing the mention of Alex Wright made me think of Disco Inferno. I'm thinking about going to see Raw when it comes to Atlanta soon and bring a sign with the following:

"Hey Y2J, Disco Inferno called. He wants his wardrobe back!"

OVW is nothing but a minor league run by the WWE, and NWA-TNA I guess would be the closest competitor, but seeing as they have once a week events...on PPV no less, they won't be going anywhere anytime soon!

The best thing about the XPW is the porn stars.

Lessnar doing a shooting star press would be wicked to see, but its too bad he had to wreck his neck doing it.

Goldberg is coming, and Nash may or may not debut tonight. It would make sense to have him show up on a night when Goldberg isn't making his first appearence.
