Don Cherry, who is a pretty famous sportscaster down south in Canada is in trouble for comments that is made on the government owned television network. Cherry hosts the Hockey Night in Canada show and is in trouble with the network heads, for a somewhat heated discussion on the Coaches Corner of the show where he condemned the fans of the Montreal Canadians for booing during the national anthem.
The CBC apparently received many complaints about the show, and no doubt was also influenced by their owners, the Canadian Governments, Stance on US actions. But Cherry is reporting that his has received a lot of positive support including from the president of the National Hockey league Players Association.
He also told the host of a US based radio show that he was sure he was going to be sacked for his comments on that show and remained unappologetic for them, and stood by them.
I haven't seen Hockey night in Canada since I left North Dakota but my own personal opinion is that the government is trying to squash pro-us sentiment and is using a bunch of Canadians pissed off because the show wandered from hockey to do it.
Messing with a Canadians Hockey is like stealing their beer.
