Canadian Pm Supports Saddam And Is A Lame Duck...

Fri Apr 04, 2003 1:01 pm

...According to a top US adviser. That's no joke!

http://ca.fullcoverage.yahoo.com/fc/breakingca/canada___us_border/

Last time I checked, Canada is an independent country than the US and is democratically ruled, if the majority of it's citizen do not want to participate in the war the gov has every to not follow the US in this war. What Canada decides is not of the US business. Thank you.

One of the great reasons to vote George Bush out of office next year is to get rid of this arrogant, "we're-better-than-everyone-else", attitude that permeats the administration and the GOP members of the Congress.

Canada has a right to not participate. The U.S. does not have the right to punish an ally who didn't agree with them.

Another mark against this Administration.

Alpha 1 is a perfect example of how we should not judge the entire population of a country by what members of their governments administration do or say.

If only some of your "potato renaming" leaders could have as much sense.

Oh and Canadians, please don't start any anti-american crap on here, you know who you are *cough*Airplay*cough*

747-451 keeps bringing up how a Canadian politician disrespected Bush in a private conversation, well, here's just one more example of a public opinion disrespecting the Canadian Prime Minister. Agree with him or not, a government should be shameful for publicly disrespecting an ally's leadership. I have my doubt that this guy will be dealt with in the same manner as happened to the Canadian, who was fired.

Yeah JeffM, what exactly do you mean? Any political differences are punishable by the United States? I can't wait to understand your reasoning!

Well apparently political differences are punishable in Canada. At least they are if you are a co-host of Hockey Night in Canada on the government owned television network.

That phrase has scared more foreigners than any other phrase...ever!

Too bad they don't know what it means.

Captain,

"747-451 keeps bringing up how a Canadian politician disrespected Bush in a private conversation, well, here's just one more example of a public opinion disrespecting the Canadian Prime Minister. I agree. Perle is an a55 who disgusts me even more than Mme. Ducros, for two reasons 1) his rhetoric across the board is ridiculous and counterproductive 2) and should know better since he should be setting an example, not making an ass out himself and who he prepresents. He is reprehensible and carries a good bit of baggage as well-so he isn't in too much of a place to be throwing coarse comments around either.

Too bad they don't know what it means.

So what DOES it mean? You're either with the US....or you're against the US. Being with the US means being 100% behind any US idea, thought, concept, plan, strategy, illegal action, law-breaking campaign. Being against the US is not being with the US.

Simple!

I live in fear that Bush and Howard will have a disagreement one day and Bush decides to invade us as Howard did not (rightly) apologixe for the treatment of the Aborigines 50 years ago.

Like it is this generations fault ?????????? But some people get good mileage out of that.

OK so I exagerate, but wars have been started for the dumbest of reasons.

Last I checked, 50% of the people in Canada rejects the war, and only 27% were for.

I imagine the 27% probably voted Reform...

Last I checked, now that the war is underway 61% of Canadians now wish that Canada has sent troops. There has been a remarkable turnaround in opinion in many Western countries since the war began.

I suppose we got information from different sources. Mine was also conducted since the war was underway, and it came from the CBC website.

Where did you get your figures from?

VonRichtofen,

If you could just see around your deep desire to find an "anti-American" to criticize, you would find that I do not fit that definition. I am not against all things American. I am against George Bush's foreign policy and specifically his handling of this Iraq issue. Although I have occasionally made posts that don't adequately separate "Americans" from "Bush's foreign policy" I believe I have made my position quite clear.

If you want an example of a person who is "anti-[insert country here]" you don't have to travel very far. Ralph Klein (premier of Alberta) has not only hinted about separation from Canada, he has faced north, bent over and spread his pre-lubed ass cheeks for the US by very publically supporting the US in this war and condemning all other provinces and Canadians in general. There, sir, is an Anti-Canadian.

The definition of "You're with us or against us" leaves very little wiggle room. I guess that means that the Congo is against the US since they have not pledged support. Maybe that's why their plight is being ignored. The statement leaves no room for neutrality or even non-action on principle. Isn't principle respected any more? Isn't that what the US administration claims it is acting for?

These silly threats from people like Richard Perle and the US ambassador are sad petty attempts at trying to sway US public opinion against Canada so they can justify past by-passing of NAFTA and further erode our economy. I'm pulling my crystal ball out now and forcasting that next year will see an increase in trade between Alberta and the US and a corresponding decrease against other provinces..except Ontario of course who's premier along with Klein will be "walking funny".....

Right, and the Pope is Jewish.

You're not quite the walking example of anti-Americanism that people like the person I am boycotting is, or a few others from Europe, Airplay, but there's no doubt where your sentiments lie as far as the U.S. is concerened. Amazing, you live so close to the U.S., yet what you think about the U.S. is so far off base that you might as well live on another planet.

Ok, back to the laundry.  Smile

I am not against all things American.

Your posts suggest that you are a bitter virulently anti-American zealot. I've never seens such left-wing socialist nonsense from a fellow Canadian before.

Ralph Klein (premier of Alberta) has not only hinted about separation from Canada, he has faced north, bent over and spread his pre-lubed ass cheeks for the US by very publically supporting the US in this war and condemning all other provinces and Canadians in general.

This is absolutely the most childish description of a Canadian politician I have ever read. The anti-American-ism is real and frightening.

I'm pulling my crystal ball out now and forcasting that next year will see an increase in trade between Alberta and the US and a corresponding decrease against other provinces..

You had better hope not. 43% of Canadian GNP is based on exports.....of which 85% go to the US. Your livelihood depends on US exports.

Surprise surprise....

YYZ and Alpha1, on the constant watch for "airplay" posts. Arguing for the sake of arguing.

Your posts suggest that you are a bitter virulently anti-American zealot.

YYZ,

Hahahaa....using your logic, I guess you are a bitter virulently anti-Canadian Zealot....and since you are Canadian, that makes it all the more tragic. If you hate Canada so much, then leave. Nobody will miss you.

Being pro-American is just about the most patriotic thing a Canadian can do. Canadians & Americans share the same basic values: democracy, peace, prosperity thru capitalism, freedom of worship. To be pro-American is essentially the same as being pro-Canadian.

Your anti-American tyrades are frequent & are based in either a socialist fog or racism...not sure which.

YYZ,

I'd like you to do a little research. Check out Alpha1's Iraqi posts prior to the Iraqi invasion. In your opinion, were the majority of those posts "pro-American" or "anti-American". If you consider them the former, then why am I singled out by you?

Your anti-American tyrades are frequent & are based in either a socialist fog or racism...not sure which.

Your continuing accusations are becoming tiresome. Because you call me anti-American (even though I continuously deny it) doesn't mean I am...but I see growing evidence to support my claims that you are anti-Canadian.
