Problems With EBay's Search Engine:?!

Sat Apr 05, 2003 7:46 pm

I don't know what's happened, but eBay's search engine doesn't work correctly anymore!!

I've bought several items related to El Al on eBay; most of them are to be found under the search "el al", while just a few are listed under "elal" or "el-al".

Since yesterday, when I launch a search for "el al", instead of receiving the full list of items (there were more than 65 items listed), I get the following message:

"al" is not searchable on eBay.
Please rephrase your search or browse our categories below.

Many eBayers are confronted to the same kind of problem, but there isn't yet any solution.
It is very annoying, since it's totally impossible to bid on any item listed under "el al".

Anyone has heard something about it?

I bitterly miss the livery that should never have been changed (repetition...)

I have no problem searching for "El Al". The search engine reports 63 items found

Try going through the browse function.

select collectables > transportation > aviation > airlines > other airlines and then type el al and you will get all el all things. There are currently 20 items (link provided below)

 Confused Confused Confused Confused

Now it works again!! But 5 minutes ago it didn't!! I tried once more before launching this thread, that's incredible; if you have a look at the eBay's question center, you'll see that I was really not the only one having that problem.

OK, now it's obviously been fixed, I hope it will continue to work like that for the future!

Maybe ebay had installed a feature which limited search to words with 3 or more characters in order to lower the system load. Then, they probably get immediate complains from many people because their favorite search item didn't work anymore, and deinstalled the feature again. Just a guess  Smile

Sometimes the Search function just doesn't work at all. Click on it again and it does. Strange but true. Technology can be temperament.
