You want to tell us what we are supposed to do with those numbers.

If that is a question it should end with a question mark.

If you want an answer the answer is "No" - you have to work it out; that's why it says "Exercise your brain".

Sorry don't mean to sound like a smartarse but it's pretty simple (and that's a hint).

Maybe it too hard, I was good at Maths in school and I have no idea. give it a few hours, most of Europe will be awake, and won't be ready for any maths problems at this time of the morning, same with the USA, some would even be still asleep.

The paper's on the book of Jonah...I also have to put together a speech oultine for a pursuasive on why digital cameras are better than film...fun stuff. A hint would actually be nice...could you somehow separate the individual letters so they're not all run together in the words? That might make it a tad easier...

Coughing up at least one of the number=letter combinations would be a help. I would assume that 1=a or i and 0=a or i but, the first sequence of the third row is '1113' and I know of no word in English that begins 'aaax' or 'iiix'.

But the rest...

*Hint* "it's pretty simple"

*Hint* "It's harder!"

*Hint* (Given when you get the second line out - which is actually a hint!)

Well done! Second part of the Prize to you!

Need the third hint? (or is the given hint enough?)

I say it's a sentence and each number represents a letter.

Extremely well done! And the third part of the prize to you as well!

I'm off to get some shuteye now so I'll leave it to you to explain the solution and to you and RoyalDutch to think about what prize/s you would like.

Regards

The second line is like the first, but counting from zero instead of one

a-0
b-1
c-2
d-3, and so on

and the third line is counting from one, but without the vowels, those are counted separately, so

a-1
b-1
c-2
d-3
e-2
f-4, and so on

I'm glad I didn't have anything to do today, because I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything else until I'd figured this out.

EmCeeOh -

I see how you get the third one form that, but the second one still isn't making any sense...

As far as my prize is concerned, TSV, you could get me some Duct Tape and WD40  Laugh out loud

Whoops! I explained it completely wrong. It's the last digit of whatever number it corresponds to, counting from zero, so

a-0
b-1
c-2

meaning

k-10 = 0
l-11 = 1
...
u-20 = 0

I just looked down at the paper I had scrawled down all the numbers on when I wrote the explanation, and I didn't think to make sure I was making any sense.

Oops what have I started?

Sorry Redngold can't work it out at the moment as I'm as sick as the probervial dog.

RoyalDutch :
"As far as my prize is concerned, TSV, you could get me some Duct Tape and WD40"

Umm er sure the Duct Tape is no problem (so long as you don't have any Guinea Pigs or Hamsters - alright I said I was sick) but the WD40 may be a problem being an aerosol can in the post?

You and EmceeOh send me an e-mail with your address and I'll mail it off as soon as I'm fit enough to get out of the house.

TSV --

Think "binary."

It's really not a code at all. Just the numbers 1-32 in binary (base 2.)

David :

Now I remember. With a handle like "RoyalDutch" are you a fan of Shell? Hope you get better too. Think I might have something like this :

Redngold :

Whoa that takes me back to Uni days (thinks - too long ago to remember) when I was young (and thin) (hey that sounds like a movie title).
