Brazilian GP Results Overturned!

Sat Apr 12, 2003 5:01 am

Woo Hoo! Big grin

The FIA has reviewed the results of the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, held in Interlagos last weekend in light of evidence that suggested that Giancarlo Fisichela has already started his 56th lap when the race ended, and thus the results of the race were to be according to the order on the 54th lap and not the 53rd as was done originally. This means that Fisi is now the winner, Raikkonen is in 2nd, Alonso still in 3rd, and DC 4th. It also means that Webber and Jaguar have lost their only point scoring position this year.

Revised Results:

POS NO DRIVER NAT ENTRANT
1 11 G FISICHELLA ITA Jordan Ford
2 6 K RAIKKONEN FIN McClaren-Mercedes
3 8 F ALONSO ESP Renault
4 4 D COULTARD GBR McClaren-Mercedes
5 10 H FRENTZEN GER Sauber-Petronas
6 16 J VILLENEUVE CAN BAR-Honda
7 4 R SCHUMACHER GER Williams-BMW
8 7 J TRULLI ITA Renault
9 17 M WEBBER AUS Jaguar-Cosworth
10 21 C DA MATTA BRA Toyota

So, Jordan has won on its 200th GP, first time since 1999, too.

An outrage that the race even got to the 56th round. It should never have been raced, especially since most of the teams were using dry tyres - they should have seen the mayhem coming from a mile away!

F1 is rapidly turning into a circus. What a fiasco. Go Juan Pablo, Ralfy and BMW!
Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

Better a circus than a parade, where the parade marshall always has a red car! Fisichella deserves the win, nobody can dispute that.

CPH-R, they were all on intermediates, not dry tires throughout the race. They started it under the safety car, which sterilized the field of any action for the most dangerous part of the race. Besides, without wet races F1 would lose any last bit of competitiveness left in the series!  Laugh out loud

Could the new rules be working? There have been 3 different winners in the first 3 races of the season, none of them from Ferrari, a double DNF for the Scuderians in Brazil, Ralf Schumacher on the verge of being kicked out of his team as he can't handle the new qualifying format in an appropriate fashion (is that what you meant, by "go Ralfy" Stretch 8? Big grin )...
