Titanic -- 91 Years Ago

Fri Apr 18, 2003 11:57 pm

Hey, I just realized that this past Monday night was the 91st anniversary of the Titanic tragedy, where she hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic & sank, killing 1500+ passengers & crew.

In an age where we routinely cross the Atlantic in 7 hours on our 777s & 747s, I think we should pay our respects to the fallen ship.

On another note, I just watched the movie "Titanic", and at the end, where Rose is shown asleep in bed, & they go down to the Titanic wreck, where it blends back into the "new" Titanic before the sinking & they show all the people who died, as well as Rose when she was younger, what does that mean? Is the elderly Rose dreaming, or what?

I think the symbolism is that she was happy again, and she could die since she gave the scum bag cal got for her, which makes no sense to me, but oh well. she throws it back, she is happy because that is sopose to mean someting, and she goes to sleep and dies a happy woman, and she is back with the scumbag. That movie was on of the worst EVER!

Since the ending is objective, as Cameron wanted it to be, I believe that she has died and is now joining Jack in her version of heaven (which is the ship and all its passengers).

You know what always really, REALLY bugged me about the end of "Titanic"?

It seems that ancient Rose (who, incidentally, looked more like a corpse than many actual cemetary residents) "died", or was "dreaming" (I'm inclined to believe it's the former-given the elements and sub-plots of the story-not to mention Jacks "farewell" pep talk as they were floating on that piece of floatsam) and was reunited with Jack in the afterlife-along with everyone else who went down with the ship.

What happened to the man Rose was married to for 20-50-70 years? I found it rather obnoxious to think that Rose ended up with some guy she only knew for a few days nearly 9 decades earlier-while the man she spent her life with is stuck in eternity alone.

Have a soft spot for that movie. But, boy, is Leonardo a really really lousy actor.

I also had the belief that she died in the end as well, but the movie really helps me look back at the days when I used to like oceanliners. (like back in 1996 to 2000).

I am proud to say that I have never seen that film.

Been toying with getting a copy of "The Poseidon Adventure" out of the cheapie bin at Wal-Mart.

Strange thing is that the Hillsborough disaster almost happened on the same day (14th anniversary).

I had the funniest scenario for the end of the Titanic.

Well, after she died, she walks back onto the ship, but young Jack has to reunite with this ancient woman. I just imagined Jack running away and saying "I don't know her!"

Why do women love Leonardo DeCaprio so much? The boy is a friggin' skeleton. I'm pretty sure that if he were to walk into a room full of beer drinkin', chain smokin', pot bellied, wolf-whistlin' guys, in other words REAL men (such as National's Sports Bar), he'd get the shit beaten out of him.

Guys,

I was just watching with the movies at Titanic once before and it was okay for me. The man named is Jack Dawson and was married with Rose on the ship. I wish decide that need go back into the time. Is that was 1912 or 1913? It was accident with back of the boat got damage near ice. Do you even need anything else to do for the movies? Well, talk ya later!

Regards!
