Sammy Sosa Scare, OUCH!..

Tue Apr 22, 2003 12:05 am

He's alright but this must have hurt, and it could have been deadly if he was using one of those old style helmets without the extra flap over the ear.

He was hit vary hard, obviously. Amazing he was not hurt. He is such a pro; no angry mound-rushing episode. The pitcher should apologize.
Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

The pitcher was very apologetic after the game, he's a fellow Dominican and came up in the system down there watching Sosa.

Sosa did show class by not overreacting, there were other episodes yesterday in which people did not act with as much restraint.

A few bench clearings yesterday, Cardinals and Diamondbacks especially.

The pitcher also said that Sosa is one of his idols.

Boy, with friends like that, who needs enemies?  Laugh out loud

How great was the Cards/Backs brawl? The way that pitcher was staring down Tino, I would have whipped his ass too. LaRussa was right on with his take!

And how about my 1-16 Detroit Tigers? They actually won more games last week than did the Red Wings.

I think my Rochester Redwings, loaded with Twins talent could slap up the Tigers 2 out of 3 games.  Big grin

Bautista had NO intention of hitting him.

1-0 game, Bautista had a GREAT game going, he had NO reason to ruin it by hitting Tino. And Tino charged Miguel when Miguel had his back turned. Bautista turned around, he saw Tino coming at him with every intention of slugging him, Bautista threw the ball to keep him away, and they went at it from there.

Tino overreacted, then attacked a guy behind his back.

Basically, they Cardinals were able to take out a dominant pitcher from the opposing team by giving up one of their players.

Bautista should not have been thrown out.

I'm still surprised Sosa didn't swing at it.
