Right Now Bush May Not Be On AL's Ballot In 04

Thu Apr 24, 2003 5:57 pm

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/04/23/offbeat.bush.ballot.ap/index.html

Apparently, Alabama law states that presidential candidates must be certified by August 31, and right now because of the Olympics the GOP is considering September 2 as the date which they'll choose their candidate. So, um...how can I vote for Bush if he won't be on the ballot? There's always the write-in, which is what will have to be done if the law isn't changed.

Not coincidentally, Republicans have carried Alabama in the last 6 presidential elections.

"How can I vote for Bush if he won't be on the ballot?" The alternative, of course, is to vote for a candidate who isn't dragging a once-great nation into the toilet?

Considering the fact that this is over a year away, it will be resolved long before hand. And Cedar, please butt out of U.S. politics. You don't live here and don't really have the right to comment on them.

757300, although he doesn't live in the US, I believe he very much should be able to comment on US politics. Who the president of the US is affects just about everyone in the entire world, at least those in developed countries, any of our trade partners, and country that a political party of the US may like/dislike, etc. The president of the US doesn't just control the US, he controls the entire world. I know it may sound crazy at first, but its true.

B757300, you're a Poster Child why Bush and his idiots need to be sent back to Crawford. You're a bully; you're of the belief that the U.S. can and should just walk over whoever the fuck it wants; you think you're the Cock of The Walk, when in reality, you're not.

Folks, if you want another 4 years of people like B757300 thinking they're superior to everyone, vote for Bush. If you'd like to see a more decent America, vote against him in '04.

B757300, just because he doesn't live in the US he can't comment on it? You're getting more ridiculous day-by-day. Not everybody is as ignorant as you, there are people who DO care what's happening in the world.

Flyf15, thank you, and you're right. Poor US leadership affects the economy of the globe, especially the parts of it known as 'the west'. Anyway, I have visited the US more than 15 times and I'm very knowledgable about the place, so I do think I have the right to comment - at least it's an informed opinion. My business sells it's products in the US as well, and the economy of the US affects me directly, even if the UK (and rest of the world)'s economies weren't affected. Believe me, we're all paying the price of your supreme court appointing a halfwit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

B757300: you give again a nice example of the extreme right republican bush lovers: 'you have not the right to talk against our US politics'.

Do we have the right to comment about them? Yes. Do you have the right to tell us to shut up? NO!

You listen too much to powell, bush,... dude. You have the same arrogant attitude of asking someone who dissagrees to shut up. Are you also going to give Cedarjet sanctions (like France) because he disagrees with the views of the arrogant bush administration (and bush lovers)?

I live here. Guess that means I do.

Vote for a candidate who isn't dragging a once-great nation into the toilet.

Thanks, Jetsy! I guess it's "official" now!

No Heavymetal, you're gay and a democrat. You don't have the right to comment on anything. Hell, if B757300 had his way you'd probably be shot.

As a fun-loving Brit and ally, anyone but Bush in '04!

To B757300 with love:

Hell yeah, following your logic, Donald "Nuke'Em" Rumsfeld didn't have any right to comment on France, much less did Bushy-Baby have any right to mess 'round with a foreign regime. Now I wonder if you agree with that.

I am glad, for once, that we are at least talking about issues in arenas where we can actually do something about it: voting. Face it--other than at the polls, the general public is in the passenger seat.

It's a good point, how come Rumsfeld, Powell et al get to not only comment and criticise other nations (when they haven't done anything wrong - France didn't so NO, they said NOT YET), they actually get to overthrow foreign gov'ts, threaten others with same etc. And I can't even comment on a foreign, but important to my well-being, regime. WTF?

And here's another thing: Bush asked Charlotte Church what English 'state' Wales was in. Now. If he's so bright, how come his knowledge of his best (only) ally is so non-existent? I mean, he thinks England is a federal system, and doesn't know Wales is a seperate country? If this is how flakey he is on the UK, what on earth doesn't he know about Iraq, Palestine et al? The mind boggles.

(FYI, the United Kingdom's full name is "the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is the union of three nations: England, Scotland and Wales. They are all divided into counties. Not 'states'. Northern Ireland is an Irish province (not British) governed from London, it's capital is Belfast. The Republic Of Ireland is a completely seperate independent nation. Also worth pointing out is that Bush's geographical ignorance is clearly shared by his travel staff - his recent visit to Belfast UK was billed on the official itinerary as 'Belfast, Ireland'. Oh my god.)

Sabena, 'Metal, Alpha and Racko and others, thanks.
