Whats That Song? Second Time Around

Thu May 01, 2003 1:01 pm

Hey, I'm back with another song I can't remeber the name:

here are the only clues I can provide:
1. Its intrumental
2. Its always played at running races, relates to running
3. has something to do with working on the sabbath (???)

Thats all I can remember, I am not 100% sure about #3...

Thanks

Have you seen National Lampoon's Vacation, the one where they drive across America to go to the amusement park. Well when they arrive and Clark and his son make a sprint for the gate from the carpark theres a song playing in the background...(phew!) ...is that the song you're thinking off?

If not disregard, if yes good. I dont know the name of the song though but someone here might.

Glad to be of service  Smile

I'll have to pull out that movie and watch it  Smile/happy/getting dizzy but I think it IS Chariots of Fire. It's always used in running-type films...especially in slow-mo  Big grin

Speaking of works that are in movies and such ;
I performed in a Choral/Orchestral concert and right before intermission the Orchestra played Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings. It's the song playing at the end of 'Platoon' where the one character is running across the field getting shot and the rest of the platoon is lifting off in choppers.
It is also played in the films 'Elephant Man' and 'Lorenzo's Oil' It was also performed at the deaths of presidents Roosevelt and Kennedy.
It was indescribably beautiful to hear performed live.

If anyone is interested after Intermission we performed "Dona Nobis Pacem" by Ralph Vaughn Williams. I don't think the music in "Dona Nobis Pacem" is as great as the Adagio for Strings, but the text is remarkable, and the music does a good job of following the text. If anyone wants me to post the lyrics I will.  Smile
