With Whom Does Your Team Start?

Thu May 15, 2003 11:22 am

The baseball genie says you can have any one current major leaguer on your mythical team. Whom would you take?

A-Rod? Jeter? Pedro? Big Unit? Nomar? (or maybe someone younger with an extraordinary future?)

Barry Bonds.

Or..

"or maybe someone younger with an extraordinary future?"

The NY Yankees Second Baseman Alfonso Soriano, he's developing into an All Star.

Chipper's music is "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne (Sharrrrroooooonnnnn!) As for a play to start a mythical team with, I'd go with Marcus Giles.

Make it more interesting: ask who you would populate your entire starting lineup with.  Smile

But if you're going to say one player, I have trouble deciding between A-Rod and Alfonse Soriano right now.

If it's just a pitcher, probably Mark Mulder or Barry Zito.

Excuse my ignorance, but are they still playing baseball at the Vet?

Yeah, Millwood pretty much shut down the 'stros last night.

This the Phillies last year at the Vet, right? Has the new ballpark got a name yet (which is to say have they found a corporate sponsor)?

Yes, the Phillies are leaving the Vet at the end of the year, a long overdue move. They are still referring to the new stadium as '2004 Phillies Ballpark.' I hope like hell, unlikely as it is, that US Airways steps in as the ballpark sponsor. One can dream, no?
