A Band Recomendation

Fri May 16, 2003 5:19 am

I've grown to enjoy most people's sense of taste in music here on a.net, very little pop, lots of diversity.

I'd like to recomend people take a listen to a band I enjoy from the Northwest called "The Empty".

http://www.theempty.com

they only have two songs to d/l yet, I'd recomend "To the Maker of Sick" as quoted below. I love this song, and think a number of you guys might dig this band.

----------------
frozen thoughts
scatter by
outside your house

right where i stand
left alone for one night
when lonely lives
went better untouched

truth be told
im alright
in the coldest of hearts
there's always some light

does it feel like
i'm waiting here for you?
can you see?
are you there
(will you) say what you mean
when you mean what you say
(tonight)?

_to the maker of sick

Nick Cave's version of "Stagger Lee" always brings a smile to my face, along with his own "The Mercy Seat"

I also recomend

Neko Case
Trailer Bride
Nick Drake
Johnny Cash

it's the good old rockin rock

I'd hesitate to label it. Give it a listen, and categorize it as you will.

well the best old rock is of course the WHO, and Zeppelin
and as for just rock out stuff definately
audioslave
slut em go
refused
and one I just thought of.... Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

....and yes pinback has that dreamy stuff down. Blue Screen Life is one of the most relaxing albums I've ever bought (next to some slower techno stuff but thats a different topic). Too bad that when they came through town the show was 18 and over  Sad.

Hey Captainmatt-

Glad you liked them. Keep listening, it grows on you really nicely.

If you get a chance, e-mail the band, maybe Jake, the bassist.
Just say high, where you're from, and you dig their music.

Positive energy in a band is important, imo, to their success, so any words you can muster they would appreciate.

Tokyo Marine Fire--

Pretty good actually, I dig the song "Warning Signs"
"Damage Control" is a bit repetative.

Not bad, I'll keep listening to see how it develops in my mind.

Godd suggestion either way.

You get a chance to e-mail The Empty?

If you're a fan of classic Van Halen (David Lee Roth, not "Van Hagar"), check this band out:
