Siyonara, Lakers!

Fri May 16, 2003 11:38 am

The run is over-THANK GOD!!

The Spurs just buried the Lakers in the 4th quarter. Just buried them. I loved every second of it.

It this the last hurrah for the Zen Master? Is it time for the Lakers to reload or rebuild. Frankly, they could go 3 years without winning a game, and I'd be perfectly happy.

I think it's looking like a Nets/Spurs final.

Good riddance, Lakers!  Big thumbs up

I loved it too...I absolutely hate the Lakers and this was the highlight of the playoffs for me...I honestly dont care who wins now (although Im crossing my fingers for my Sixers to pull some type of comeback off)...all I wanted was for the Lakers to not win the NBA title...now that thats accomplished...I can breathe easy again...

Can you believe, immediately after the game, ABC had the nerve to interview a Laker before one of the victorious Spurs? That really pissed me off.

Sure looks like an I-35 Western Finals. Don't guess 2-man teams are good enough anymore in the NBA.

You people can bash the Lakers all you want, but when their dynasty is over you will be begging to have them back, just like with the Bulls with Jordan. You can call Shaq and Kobe the whole time, fine, but they were the whole team just as Jordan and Pippen were.

Somehow me and Alpha 1 always clash about sports. But you have to give the Lakers credit, they are a great team, and just got outplayed. They proved they were the best.

They weren't the best tonight. The aft lady has sung, the sun has set for them this year, and is say one thing only......

It's about time! Go Spurs! I always want to see a new champion, it gets boring seeing the same old one.

AA61hvy, who are the Bulls and Jordan?  Innocent

Don't hold your breath! I've ALWAYS hated the Lakers. I can't stand L.A. in any sport, with few exceptions. I'll be glad if they don't contend for another decade, just like I'm very content that the Celtics haven't contended for almost a decade now. They could never win another title, and the Lakers have still won more than their share. It's pretty easy to root for a team that wins all the time. Most sports fans don't have that luxury with their teams.

I lump the Lakers, Celtics, Raiders, Ravens, Steelers, Canadians and Yankees into my "Most Hated Sports Teams". Oh, and Notre Dame, too.  Big grin

Oh yea...anyone who was watching the telecast of the game...did you notice that they seemed to give Jack Nicholson more airtime than the game itself...it seemed like after every shot they would cut to him sitting in his famous courtside seat...really annoying...Alpha 1...no I didnt notice that but it definitely would have pissed me off too...

Nothing like talking about how 'great' Michael Jordan is. Does this include though, him calling teammates "Flaming Faggots"?

I can understand Kobe getting emotional at the end of the game and shedding a tear...but what's up with Derek Fisher and his crying?!?

And Will Smith...his couldn't hit air with his shots the whole series, I think he's gone from the team.

This was sweet for the Spurs...hey, Phil Jackson (seriously, glad to see you're doing better after your surgery), can we take the asterisk from the Spurs' 1999 championship now?

I think this may be the first time that Alpha_1 and I have agreed on something too. I would like to see a new Lakers streak begin...not making it to the playoffs.

Hmmmmm.....seems lie everyone loves to hate the dynasties. When I was in LA and going to all those Kings hockey games back in the mid 80's, we absolutely hated the Edmonton Oilers, and every time that Wayne Gretzky hit the ice, we'd yell "Gretzky sucks, Gretzky sucks...". Did he suck? Not by a long shot. We were jealous because he and his team were so good. But eventually, their time would run out, and it did. Then Gretz got traded to the Kings, and everybody immediately changed their opinions of him.

So what can we glean from this.....simple, those who hate the Lakers are just (steady, people) jealous of their success. Put Shaq or Kobe on their favorite team, and presto, instant love affair.

So,as the saying goes, "don't hate player, hate the game".

AA61hvy, one less than they wanted? Doesn't really matter though as the Laker fanatics who have no sense of reality are faced with it now.

PS, what is a "Chicago Bull again?" Is that not indeed the same as "has been?"

Perhaps now the Spurs can win a REAL championship, as opposed to that ugly one with the big fat asterisk next to it.  Big grin
