Still No WMD!

Fri May 16, 2003 4:29 pm

I'm still amazed to notice that the US troops after 1 month 1/2 of presence in Iraq didn't manage to find any WMD or weapons of "terror" like they call it.

But when you were listening to W Bush two months ago you could believe Iraq was more equipped than Russia.

So when will the U.S finally admit they made all that for NOTHING but the OIL ???

They obviously didn't cover those three WMD labs that we recovered where you live.

If they where not working on them, why have the trailers?

Sorry I'm not spending my life on A.net forums !!

Therefore I didn't notice other threads about WMD searches.

The question came up to mind and I therefore decided to share it with others.

Unless a large pile of stuff labeled "WMD" is found, the lefties and U.S. haters will never be happy. Then again, they'll just claim it was planted.

This thread rates around a 2 on the troll meter.

Given that the US wants its own inspectors and not independant UN inspectors, it's a pretty reasonable assumption to come to B757300. Then again, it's not really an issue as WMDs haven't been found.

Anyone going to admit that Bush was lying yet?

I agree with andreas. Why talk about this yet again ?

May I suggest we set a date, by which time we can be more confident that whatever is or isn't there has or hasn't been found. Then, the 2 sides of this "debate" can post all they want with one side going full bore 'I told you so' and the other squirming and spinning for all they are worth. Should be a blast BUT no posts before that date please.

How about July 1st ?

Good God, B757300, can't you be in ANY THREAD without using the word "lefties"? Is your mind that poorly illuminated.

I'm not a U.S.-hater, pal. I'm wondering where all these WMD's are too, buddy. I'm still willing to give it some time, but where the fuck are they, if they were so evident when Powell went to the U.N?

Bush said-up until about a week into the fighting in Iraq-that the WMD's were the reason? Where are they, Mr. GOP? I'm beginning to think they aren't there, and, true to my original suspicion, Bush used thiem as a pretext to invade a nation that did his daddy wrong.

You can cry all you want, '300, about "lefties", since that's what you do best, but it doesn't change the fact that it's beginning to look like Bush lied to the American people and the world.

They obviously didn't cover those three WMD labs that we recovered where you live.

They didn't really pipe that one into South Florida either, El. I've heard A LOT of stories (especially on Fox) about how "this is it! They found barrels! They found a mobile lab! They found "Doctor Germ"....but upon further investigation, nothing comes of it (Fox doesn't really like to cover that part of the story, so they don't.)

And B757300, that's the third time you've used that nifty "liberal crap" photo. If you're going to be unoriginal, can you at least avoid monotony?

B757300, I'm a proud liberal and I got to admit, that pic is pretty funny... And yes I do think Bush used the "WMD" scare as an excuse to invade Iraq for its oil and for a base to control the middle east .... I hope the details of his scam will be exposed before the 2004 election.

Let's say your friend comes to you and says he's hidden $1,000,000 in a safe somewhere in California, and it's all yours once you find it. You once knew where the safe was, but your friend has had several years to hide it.

Obviously, you'd want to find it...but without any other clues, how long do you think it would take for you to locate the safe? A month? A year? Five?

The point is that this is essentially the same roadblock facing the U.S. inspectors in Iraq now. So, you might want to cut them a little slack and let them do their jobs instead of demanding to see the evidence on your timetable like a bunch of spoiled brats.  Insane

Sure this has turned out to be nothing.

Id plate from mobile fermenting plant

That same mobile lab.

This is one of three or four that have been located so far, that where described accurately by Colin Powell at the UN prior to the invasions. It is funny that the media where Heavymetal and DC10guy lives didn't report that.

But somehow Reuters managed to find the story. Reuters, not Fox News.

Why have germ and chemical warfare labs if you aren't developing those weapons?

Absolutely, since you've forgotten (or conveniently failed to point out) that he'd already tried to hit me with it awhile back, leading me to kick his ass once already.

L-188,

A tag off some busted up equipment and a trailer that arguably is better than some found in North American trailer parks but looks pretty much abandoned means nothing.

We all knew they made chemical weapons. Hell, the US supplied them with the materials and the technology! But it doesn't mean they were producing them just prior to the war.

Where are the weapons or even the materials???????

Airplay.

That trailer is a lot worse shape then the first one they found that was a spot on match for the ones that Powell described at the UN. Those hadn't been found by looters and where in much better shape.

I wasn't able to find a photo of those.

He wasn't supposed to have the equiptment to develop them either and like I said that has been found.

Hardly matters. When you see the footage of people digging up thousands of relatives and pleading to carry their bones away for burial, you don't need to find WMD to justify offing Saddam.

From the news, all I see is that the US has antagonized the region and induced more to seek revenge by way of terrorism.

Suicide bombings, terrorist activities, calls for the US to leave Afghanistan and Iraq.....increasing threats of violence on western targets.

The war in Iraq was wrong, and it was begun on false promises and evidence that there were WMDs and the US was in immediate danger. Now we have the stability of the region and security of associated countries spiraling down the toilet.

The US would have been in much less danger if Bush was never elected. What on earth did he expect? If he gets re-elected, I truly will seriously consider the general population down there to be idiots.

Anyway...back to the topic. There are no significant stocks of materials to build WMDs in Iraq, nevermind actual WMDs. If there were, they would be found by now. So, yes. If any are found I'm convinced they'd be planted by Bush supporters to help with his re-election effort. But there aren't any "legit" WMDs, and Bush knew it all along.

Here's my new forecast. The Iraqis are going to press hard for the coalition forces to leave. You know, the guys who want to give Iraqis freedom by outlawing political parties it deems inappropriate! Even if a US backed government is established, it won't last long. Once Saddam sees an opportunity he will regain power with the support of Syria and some Saudi nationals including OBL and his crew. And if you thought the Iraqis were suffering before....look out. The US will of course retreat like before and allow several thousand to perish and suffer. Kind of like what's going on in Afghanistan right now.

That's where you and others like you are dear wrong. It DOES matter, because Bush justified the war on his arguments solely about WMD's, not on freeing Iraq; not on regime change; not on finding bones of people-it was all about WMD's, stupid.

But that was coneveniently forgotten by Mr. Bush when it became apparent that all these WMD's that were supposedly so apparent didn't surface. Then he changed his tune. He went to war on a false premise, apparently, but that won't stop him to, true to his GOP lineage after Nixon and Reagan, from trying to wiggle out of somethng that wasn't quite what he said it was.

Welcome to the New America-where the reasons for going to war don't matter, as long as you make up some excuse that sounds good to the gullible souls.

Belgians tend to forget another important issue here, which is that Saddam was unable to ACCOUNT for his WMD. In a series of 17 UN resolutions aimed at enforcing the will of the ENTIRE WORLD, not just Bush, Saddam made the world's great European appeasers look like the weak nations that they are. As much as I dislike Bush, I understand that based on the lessons of Euroepan history which so clearly spell out the real and potential consequences of appeasement, the US finally got tired of Saddam's bullshit and called his bluff. There are many people out there like myself who are anti-war, but are even more anti-weakness and anti-appeasement. Whereas the Belgians and the French would rather wait until AFTER the chemicals or biological agents have already killed thoudands of Britons in the Underground or hundreds of thousands of Californians drinking a poisoned water supply, the US would not. We are entering an age of radical and extremist Muslim fundamentalism and the world better wake up and smell the danger real fast. Because these schools of death that have sprouted in the Middle East are not just against the US, they are against human progress, equal rights for women, free enterprise, freedon of speech, democracy etc. They want you dead or to convert and join them their new 14th Century style "paradise". These people do not exist becuase of the US, they are not simply fighting the US, they are against every principle of existence that serves as the social foundation of Western society. They kill Germans, Americans, Brits, Japanese, Koreans, Arabs etc etc etc.

But Flying Belgian, don't worry too much. You have millions teetering on the edge of death in your former African colony. You are free to practice your cherished appeasement there and sit idly by while human tragedy unfolds before your very eyes....again!

Rather more clearly, they spell out the consequences of invasion.

But Flying Belgian, don't worry too much. You have millions teetering on the edge of death in your former African colony. You are free to practice your cherished appeasement there and sit idly by while human tragedy unfolds before your very eyes....again!

In that case, why isn't the humanitarian-minded USA not intervening there too?

The word "appeasement" gets bandied around here pretty freely. I would suggest that some countries being accused of appeasing an invasion force are getting an unfair assessment.

If the US threatens war with a country unless it meets certain terms, is it appeasment if the country chooses to meet the demands?

I would further suggest that in many ways the US brought 9/11 on itself. It meddled in middle east affairs and grew out of favour when the people of the region finally figured it all out.

Perhaps if the US "appeased" the Arabs of the region and got out when they were asked to, 9/11 and the subsequent escalation would not have happened.

Please tell me you didn't seriously just write that. Please tell me this was just your attempt at humor, and not an actual airing of what you believe to be a valid opinion.

If you actually believe that acts of terrorism such as 9/11, the Riyadh bombings and other associated al Qaeda actions would never have occurred had Gore or any other candidate won the White House, I'm inclined to believe you're related to a large flightless bird that has a tendency to burrow its head in the sand to hide.
