Forked Tongue: The Latest Trend

Tue Jun 03, 2003 1:34 am

Just when I thought I've seen it all, here is the latest trend, which is sure to become HUGE:

The forked tongue. Never mind practicality, risks, or later regrets, or the fact that you will end up sounding like a gay Daffy Duck when you speak. This fad has all the necessary ingredients for success: It is risky. It is new. And most important, it is (most likely) offensive to anyone over the age of 35. And of course, it is something unique to todays young generation; something they can use to "identify" themselves.

PS: What will the old saying of "Speaking with a forked tongue" mean? I guess it will be a literal statement.

I'm in my late 20s (over the hill........?) and to be honest this just makes me cringe. After biting, cutting and burning my tongue countless times over the years I wouldn't dare do something like that to my tongue on purpose.

That being said, it could make certain pleasures....different to say the least. For both parties. Then again, I'm not cutting my tongue in half just so I can have my head crushed by thighs even harder.

Wow, someone familiar with an Overkill song...other than me.

As for this latest "trend". I'm not sure it will catch on to become something 'big' but stranger things have happened.

In a lighter side, 777236ER...I' msure We're Nuts would like you to get a split tongue and then.......ahhhhh never mind.

Since it looks like you can move each half independantly, I wonder if with a little practice, he could juggle peas with his tongue. then, for big finish he could juggle them through his nose ring!

However, if he REALLY wanted to impress me he would juggle them though his nose ring while the peas were on fire. Now that's something I'd pay to see (well almost)!

I hope to god that my generation has not become THAT low. If people want to get pierced, I can look at that, but that tongue thing gives me the creeps.

Has anyone here MET anyone with these tongues? Living near NYC, I am sure to run into one sooner or later. Yuck!

I'd like to get an ordinary piercing in the tounge. I'm a bit scared of it getting infected and stuff though so i haven't done it yet. That above stuff looks dreadful though.

Well, the mouth IS the most bacteria infested part of the body (well besides the sphincter I suppose), so the risk of infection IS pretty high.

I also once knew a girl who had to be rushed to the emergency room following a tongue piercing. The guy that did it apparently wasn't too careful and he punctured an artery in her tongue and she nearly bled to death.

Of course, Brenda not being the sharpest tool in the shed waited about a month and had it done again. I guess it was done "right".

Granted, there are a lot-perhaps most-piercings that go over without a hitch, but there ARE risks involved. So you gotta decide.

i don't understand why not. This is America. If people pay money for it - let them do it. Nobody asks you to pierce or split your tongue anyway. Not that I would ever do it...

I'll just echo everyone else: That is sick and disgusting...on a related note, I think it will be interesting when our generation (and other generations to whom this applies to) grows into their 80's and 90's and will have all these tattoos and piercings all over them, with shriveled, pruny skin...it will be quite a sight to say the least...

Um, I've yet to hit 25, and it offends me  Smile

That is one of the sickest things I've seen in a long time....maybe ever. Tribal peoples are one thing. If they want to punch a bamboo rod through their lip, that doesn't bother me - it's merely their culture.

But this nonsense is unnatural and vulgar. I don't think it will be a huge phenomenon. In reality, I bet it is being over hyped right now, and will only catch on with a small minority of the population.

Kids these days may be increasingly unintelligent on the whole, but most aren't dumb... And you don't have to be a genius to realize slicing your tongue in half is going to hurt, and have serious physical consequences.

Of course, you always have your wackos...like the brother of captured bomber Eric Rudolph who cut off his hand as a sign of solidarity for his brother. Anyone who would willingly do something like that to himself ought to be let alone, so long as we (taxpayers) aren't burdened with supporting them afterwards.

Ick!

That is gross mutilation. Eeeeeewwwww.

Although I have to say I am getting used to people with these types of body enhancements - given I have moved into a new suburb that has a large proportion of people with piercings, tat's, multi coloured hair and lots of black makeup.

Personally I wouldn't let anyone with a forked tongue kiss me.
