I Need Ideas For A Current Source...

Thu Jun 05, 2003 11:40 am

This is for a hobby and a future job.

Large-scale problem: Is there any other known powerplant or generator that can produce 4,200,000,000 (that's 4.2 billion) amperes of current for 3 hrs, that ISN'T a fuelcell or nuclear reactor?

On a smaller scale, how about 50-Amps for about a half hour?

Conditions:

1) Both should be sustained with an average output.
2) This CANNOT be plugged into the ground and it HAS to have mobility during production of current, i.e. is there anyway to make it lighter just in case?

As with the smaller-scale device, I'd like to put it in a car...don't ask why, I'm tired.

The smaller one should be no problem, but you have not mentioned what voltage, and whether you'd be looking for AC or DC.

lets say 240 volts for the smaller one and around a thousand for the larger. let's assume for now, a DC system. i tried AC on a motor, the shaft never spun because of the alternating phase, it just vibrated.
