Anyone catch F-1 BMW driver Juan Montoya and Winston Cup Chevrolet driver Jeff Gordon "trade paint" at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Today on Speed channel there was a event called "Tradin Paint", basically what it was NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and F-1's Juan Montoya, their cars and crew met at the Indianapolis motor speed way where NASCAR's Jeff Gordon drove Montoya's F-1 BMW around the track and Juan Montoya drove Gordons Winston Cup Stock car.

They went in and out of the shop, they were both (and their crews) very much into the event.

Gordon's best lap around the Indy Grand Prix track was good enough to qualify for the USA Grand Prix, 1:16.

It's going to be re-aired tonigh at 1 AM EST.

It was a fun show, and worth doing again with different types. I really enjoyed Trading Paint.

Unfortunately, I missed it but I love the concept. I hope to see more.

Not exactly a "trading paint"-occurence, but interesting anyway:

Back in 1993, the Penske Team was doing some pre-season tests at the Firebird Raceway in Great Britain. following an invitation by Emerson Fittipaldi, Ayrton Senna attended the test and took the chance to make some laps in Emerson's Penske Chevrolet Indycar. There are some photos of this test, along with an 1/43 model of "Emmo"s #4 Penske with Ayrton Senna(Minichamps/Paul's Model Art, "Ayrton Senna Collection"). Senna claimed after the tests(and apparently after burning some real good laps), he was impressed by the Indycar.

Makes me think what if he was still alive. Which series he would race today? Champcars? IRL? Still F1?

That was a neat idea & a great show. It seemed like Montoya and Steve Matchett (the SPEED Announcer) were impressed with Gordon's car. Gordon, who is an F1 fan, was living out a dream on his laps. I wonder what would happen if my favorite athlete ever would try the U.S. Grand Prix- he's an awesome road racer in NASCAR. BTW- They re-aired it last night & probably will again.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again in the near future or next year! I'd love to see Schumacher wheel a 3,400 pound stock car around the Indy Road Course!!

Senna if he were alive? F1.
