When I vacationed to Greece, 2 weeks ago, it came to my attention while traveling through Frankfurt, Athens, Munich, and even Santorini (a small airport on a Greek island), that the quality of airport security in the USA, despite all the past events, is STILL not as good as those of other countries. For example, when arriving in BOS, I put my bag on the X-ray belt and all went fine. Got my bag, left for my plane. I get to Frankfurt, go through the same process, expecting to be let through, when they stop my bag, ask me to open it and reveal the lighter in my bag which I had mistakenly forgot to take out at home. Why wasn't this caught in Boston? In addition to this, the security at Munich was very high. It doesn't really matter who you are...EVERYONE gets frisked and wanded - regardless of whether you set the walk-through metal detector off. The only complaint I have is that the clown who frisked me was damned close to my genitals...too close. Although I suppose I'd rather have my balls felt for a split second than have some wacko on the plane with a weapon. I feel like the U.S. is trying to give off this feeling of freedom and minimal need for security. Hell, if I was gonna pull anything like those hijackers, I'd probably do it through the U.S., too. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be frisked and have to deal with those big guys walking around FRA with their rifles.
Just my 2 cents I guess,
