The Force Is Not With The Fat!

Wed Aug 06, 2003 4:59 am

In the original star wars movie (Episode IV, A New Hope, Whatever you want to call it), the scene where the rebel alliance in their X wings attack the death star three very interesting coincidences take place.

1. There is a somewhat overweight guy piloting an X wing. This is unusual in and of itself as most "fighter pilot" roles are played by the smaller men (Tom Cruise for example)

2. His name is PORKINS! Coincidence? I think not.

3. He is the first one shot down  Sad.

Do you guys think this is all coincidence or was this George Lucas making a cheap shot at the fat guy.

Yes I am overweight (5'9 200lbs)
Yes I was initially rooting for the fat guy fighter (for the whole 45 seconds he was alive)
Yes I laughed when they called him Porkins.
Yes I am comfortable being a nerd.  Laugh out loud

I dont tink Porkins was intentional. Maybe.

I also dont think it was intentional that he got shot first.

I jsut dont understand how he got his fat ass in the damn fighter
Good thing there's zero G in space, otherwise his V1 would be doubled.
